To replicate a real-life option offered for the Insight, which is a 5-speed paddle shift, I've installed a racing transmission (the only option available). However, the transmission whine is incredibly loud. I'm not trying to make this a race car, just a simple replica of a real-life transmission option. I recall a topic here in the Tuning Forum addressing how to quiet down the noise a racing transmission makes, however I can't seem to find it. I even did a search, but it turned up fruitless. What kind of setup could quiet down the transmission? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you all in advance.

The thread you're thinking about said to set final drive to 2.000(or minimum)

If you want to get the same gear ratios with a lower than factory you can do this:

example info-
stock final drive: 4.100
stock 1st gear: 2.460
stock 2nd gear: 1.950

New final drive: 2.000
new (whichever) gear: ?

It's fairly easy actually, just multiply your stock final drive and whichever gear you are tuning. 4.1 x 2.46 = 10.086
Now, we take 10.086 and divide it by the new final drive. 10.086/2 = 5.043

same thing for 2nd gear. 4.1x1.95 = 7.995
7.995/2 = 3.9975 (or 3.998)

using this you can get the same gear ratios as the car you are replicating, yet still take advantage of the low gear whine. I haven't tried the low final drive, but it supposedly works.

Thank you for the help JT! It worked beautifully! :)👍
