Okay not really a newb since I been playing since GT1. But my experience is not so in depth as car aficionados (spelling?). Anyway, embarrassed to say but I need help with the Suzuka circuit in Class A. For the love of Gawd I can not finish better than 5th place. I used the custom Ford GT and was insane to control (all settings on sim, off and zero). I then played with the Nissan GT-R and I was able to keep it in control due to it's 4wd. Yes Im a newb. Cant control these mid engine or FR cars to get a decent position.

Does anyone have any tips on how to finish third at least on Suzuka? I really feel like I drive pretty good laps (i.e. by my standards no mistakes and at highest speeds). Catching 4th place is tough and I cant imagine even catching to third?!!! How do you people do it?

Thanks in advance.

Use either the Corvette Tuned or the Amuse S2000. These cars are very fast and easy to drive (unlike the GT LM).

yep the vette tuned is my favorite. Finally beat S-10 last night, stuggled with that one for a week or two.

Try the tuned vette for suzuka. maybe even keep it on auto.

You said class A in your post, are you sure it wasn't S10?

The Later S-class races are quite difficult and take a lot of practice.

The Nissan GTR is more than capable of beating the A class events (That it can compete in).

Wow! Thank you so much! I usually like to figure things out alone but I think I needed some tips and the Amuse S2000 was very easy and a lotta fun to use! So much fun to turn on high speeds! I got 3rd easy. I even made a couple mistakes and almost got 2nd as well if I wasn't distracted on the final double sharp turn by the 2nd place car. I love the car!

@ Seismica: Yes it is Class A and I played with the Nissan GT. I find it hard to believe anyone beating the Suzuka class A with that car. I'd like to see it to believe it. If you say it's easy then props to you. I thought I had wicked laps but only ended 5th using the car.

Oh, one more thing, Seismica... when I said Nissan GT I did not mean the tuned one. Should I assume everyone uses the tuned ones? I'm a good driver but Im no expert in cars so I guess I should've assumed all use the tuned?!

Tuned ones come in from the S-levels.

You will notice here there are different levels of racers in Gran-Turismo.
Not everyone can do things at the same level.
GTPlanet uses divisions to help people work with equivalent racers:

Some will need standard settings to pass, others will need the Amuse S2000.
It is just what you need at that moment no issue.

On the other hand you will see people that are able to take a Ferrari 512BB on professional settings and drive it faster around then you can take the S2000 on standard. It just means there a is a margin for improvement.

For Race A-9 a car like the Honda NSX-R 02 is sufficient and a lot of none tuned (like the GTR) are faster then that. Practice, practice, practice!

by my standards no mistakes and at highest speeds
As you stated your standards, look at the "online rankings" and analyze what the best do, breaking points, driving lines, gears, acceleration, ...
You'll be surprised how fast others are.
Do some arcade and use the ghost of others to learn from the best.👍

But remember: It takes time, just some racers online might have passed more time in Gran Turismo or other racing simulators then you already.

B.t.w. I find Suzuka a struggle as well?:scared:

The GT-R is my least favorite of the supercars in the game. I don't drive it well and it doesn't seem to like me either. That said I took a stock tune GT-R to the A-class Suzuka race (pro) and won easily. I was 6th at the end of lap 1. 2nd at the end of lap 2 and it took me most of lap 3 to chase down the lead GT-R. But still pretty easy.

Did it in a couple of other cars (with stock tunes) too and I have to say the Mines owns this event. You can almost drive it matted the whole race. I fudged the hairpin and ate alot of gravel and still took the lead on lap 2. Amuse and Tuned Vette also own it but take a bit more finesse on the throttle.
