lol not happening
I was going to try the Ferrari 599 at DR but before I go out there and embarrass myself can you help me out with tuning. As you may know the 599 has a lot of grip but understeers.Do you think it is good enough to keep up at DR?

True, I never got around to making one... and its almost update time... There were a few people racing it though at Daytona so I think it can be made competitive... 👍

I might need the best tuners on GTP to help me out with this one.

Well, if the 599 is competitive in the next events, I can try and make a tune... otherwise theres always, TLD, Dutch Customs, TZT, AIM, Thunder & Lightning race garage, or Digital Racecraft..... So theres plenty of choices :D and I know most of them take requests as well... as do I 👍

The main problem with the 599 is its understeering which isnt a weight problem. It's just not very nimble.

The thing is, with proper tuning you can make almost every car nimble and stable... thats the beauty of it... but its not always an easy task... If it wasnt so busy with Holidays and family I would help you out... just dont have time right now... I can definately try and make a tune for the new events coming on Xmas day... So we'll see where its competitive and I'll help you out... no problem for me... 👍

Have you looked in the tuning garage threads.

starting point

This thing is typical Ferrari - understeering nature under braking, oversteering nature under throttle. My advice is to TT the heck out of the car with the required tires until you really know it, then tune it for the race.

I need a tune for it real bad. The ferrari 599 is my favourite ferrari (excluding enzo) and i want it to be a champion.

Yeah, if you give us that, we might be able to make a proper tune...

The thing about the 599 is that it's not exactly a balanced sports car. It's plenty fast on the straights but is finicky under braking, and seems heavy going around corners. It's a good car for Daytona Oval, but for DR? Uh... nope

Post the pp value, and i'll get back to you. However, i've got my work cut out for me, it'll be some time before i get to the 599 (check my thread).

Well maybe suz 650pp might work. I have faith that the 599 can be nimble enough to keep up.

You didn't look hard enough, I made an old 599 set up a while back which competed in the Ferrari only event here on GTP on Fuji and infact finished top 3 in a field of almost all F430s every race, and took 2 races wins. I don't know how it will fend on Suzuka, and it was made on a previous update, but transfer the suspension settings (gearing will most likely be out but my ratios should work ok just not perfectly with the V12s broad power band). It won't be beating many cars because of it's weight it just isn't a nimble car, but the acceleration will get you past on the long straights.

Ferrari 599RVT (remember the tyre and power/weight settings will all also be wrong, so the suspension may be useless to, but it could work)

Thanks for your help ill try it soon. I'll make a few changes to fit suzuka.

I really dont know how it will fair on the newer spec, but I know the 599 isn't a race winning car on Suzuka, so don't get to high hopes.

it's not a race winning car because no one uses it and no one has any suz tunes for it.

No because it's to heavy and cumbersome for a twisty sweeping track like Suzuka when put up against things like the Clio/Tuned and NSX at 650PP. To much weight in that nose causes it to handle pretty badly. It only won races in the Fuji Ferrari Festival through brute straight line speed out of the final turn onto the extremely long straight.

You're making it sound like it's a drag car. I know it can turn i just want it to turn better with less understeer.

It basically IS compared to it's competition. You're talking about a huge lump V12 upfront (6.0L is it?) in a car weighing well over 1500KG, honestly what do you expect? The 599 is a Grand Tourer, not a hardcore track car, it's simply not designed for racing primarily although it is fast. You have to blunt it's performance to get it into 650PP as well which doesn't help. I suggest having as little weight as you can and sacrifice as much power as it takes.

I noticed that the 599 i more nimble under pro physics and handles much better under it. If you put your mind to it you could get any car to do good. I don't want it to be a winning car, I just want it to be a good one.

I didn't say it wouldn't be good, I said it's not a race winning car, which you have been arguing that it will win races (and I mean winning in a competitive environment not just empty rooms or against worse opponents). The 599 drives alright with careful throttle and steering application but it just won't corner like other cars in the class which is a big disadvantage on Suzuka.

The 599 is a slight oddity in this game. Its power and considerable straight line speed make it quite good for daytona oval, but its size and weight screw it over on the twistier curves of suzuka and eiger.

GT5P has flawed in the 599's physics. It is supposed to be great handling in real life. It is supposed to not feel heavy. It is supposed to kick the ford gt's ass at the oval. But it doesn't which is a flaw in GT5P.
