HELP! We had a brown out and I'm back to square 1!

I don't know what happened, the lights went out for a sec, and so the TV and the PS3 went out. When I restarted, it couldn't log in to the PS servers and when I re-booted GT5, It started from scratch. Set up instructions and ecerything.
OMG! I was already at L26 and just finished my 2nd endurance race...oh no!

Any PS3 mavens out there?

Save backups are not just for cloning cars, you know! That sucks severely. Look at the bright side though. Now you'll be able to go back through and not make all the mistakes you made before. By the time you get back up to where you were, you be in fantastic shape!
 
This is exactly why the back up save feature was included in the 1.05 patch
i live in Australia where electricity blackouts can be quite frequent, so, I back up my save daily not just to usb stick but also copy the contents of the usb stick to the hard drive of my computer
J.Coop have you tried the recover data facility in the XMB? you might be able to salvage your save data

When the lights went off he did a "OMG my carsssssssss!!!!" and gifted himself a little brown ticket in his underwear, hence the Brown out.

EDIT: I do feel sorry for him. This is what the ability to backup your save game data is for though. If anyone reading this hasn't done so already then you should probably make a backup right now.

Black is when the power goes out and stays out. Brown out is when all your lights dim, some electronics turn off, some click right back on. Its basically an uneven power distribution, but not a total loss of power.

Sorry to hear about your loss. Reminds me to back up my save.

It was during the blizzard we just had in NY. I DO have a USB flash but it's very rare we have these around here. Oh well, right about not making the same mistakes. Especially the one about not doing a backup. Funny, though, I'm in beginner level 5 again but I still have my saved replay files winning with a Formula GT for playback:crazy:

Just finished the VW bus race in the Top Gear track special events. Gold this time! I have to tone down my "temperament" level like B spec Bob. It's tough going to racing a Vitz from racing a Pagani Zonda R at Sarthe in the rain! LOL!:crazy:
 
I had a brownout that wiped me out too, but I back up daily 👍

Just a quick comment that there a TONS of reasons why you may lose your game state on your PS3, not just a brownout.

Buy a $5 USB drive and back up your stuff regularly people.

I was afraid of that myself, that's why I just a dedicated thumb drive for this game alone and sat it it right next to my PS3. $12 for 4 GB is a cheap investment to prevent weeping and gnashing of teeth....

I remember a computer class I took years ago and a line the instructor used about important documents "Jesus saves and so should you". Makes alot of sense....

IMO use two flash drives and rotate them out every day that you play the game. That way you're double safe in case your box takes a surge which could fry the stick that's still plugged in.
