Ford has been using 6x8s for years ...

You can make it fit, but you'll need a custom bracket and you'll probably need to drill new holes to mount it ...

I don't really see why you'd go w/ 6x8s instead of 6x9s, personally ... Unless your car came with 6x8s ...

ah, well i guess im not familiar. I was going off of what ive seen on store shelves.

Ya, u can customize anything, but it isnt recommended, especially if youre downgrading.

why would you go with a 6X8?

how would you like to down grade from your (insert hot car here) to a (insert dumb grocery getter here.)

Who says he's downgrading?

Bigger speaker = Better sound? Not quite.

It doesn't matter how big a speaker is. I'm replacing the 6x9's in my car with a pair of 4.5" Infinitys and tweeters. And they sound alot better, and handle more power.

ask yourself this; with the choices available in 6X9 vs 6X8 where is he likely to find better quality? and probably for a lower price.

i agree that bigger is not better, but when you have a choice and dont have a choice youre likely to have a wide spectrum of sound sound quality from the choice than the mandatory option.

i know all about it. my saab takes a 4X6 (might be 4X10) rear speaker. ive two choices on crutchfield. theres 25 for 6X9s. the choice gives me the option to match my speakers or expand my sound paramaters. and the prices are less too.

They will fit with minor modifications. There is also a fairly good selction of 6x8's out there. However you can get a better sound out of the 6x9's. I would assume maybe you are either taking these speakers from another car or are buying them cheap even free.

But in case you plan on buying some 6x8's I would recommend these...

You can't go wrong with Infinity. Audiobahn makes a set of 6x8's but they aren't as good, Sony also has a pair that is 3 way but Sony is known for having crappy car audio. So I would recommend buying Infinitiys. Also you might want to look at Alpine, but I'm not sure if they make a 6x8.

yeah i just seen sum 6x8 Infinity's on ebay and i just wanted to kno if they would just screw in place of a 6x9 with the screw holes lined up. dont mean im gonna get em for sure i was just curious about it.

If all else fails drill new holes or make some brackets.

Use Crutchfield to see what fits your car. 👍
Last month I was doing an install and Crutchfield recommended the wrong size speakers ('89 Nissan Pulsar NX) ... They recommend 6.5" when it's really 6.75", so I had to drill ... Also, the rear speakers (aka side panel) are 4" stock, yet they don't even offer that as an option ...

In my car (1987 Nissan 200SX), it's wrong again ... Recommended 6.75" speakers all around, but I know you can't even get 6.5" speakers in the rear deck without modification, let alone 6.75" ... I'm pretty sure 6.75" wouldn't fit up front, either, but I haven't tried (5.25" stock which, again, Crutchfield doesn't even give as an option) ... The door speakers are at a really odd angle (facing the floor) anyways, so I just went with kick panels ...

So, to sum it up, Crutchfield isn't always right ... Best bet is to measure for yourself ...
