Help with a tribute cockpit needed

All, a very close friend of mine died unexpectedly of a lung aneurysm last weekend. We had 3 identical racing cockpits of the following:

Playseats Evo - White/Silver
Logitech G25 w/shifter mounted
Panasonic 5.1 surround sound with bass shaker in the chair
PS3 w/ eye
24" Dell 2408WFP just behind the wheel

We loved it for the most part and had no real complaints. We are talking about selling off a cockpit or two to build the ultimate tribute cockpit. We were thinking...

1) The screen could be bigger and switch to maybe an LED TV? What size is ideal you think? Smallest LED I have found is 40". Anyone use LED for gaming? What size in GT5 perfectly simulates the appropriate size of the wheel in the cockpit view? We usually race with the bumper cam but thought having an appropriately sized view would be cool.

2) Cockpit...only thing we didn't like about the evo was the wheel support was in the way sometimes...not bad but was interested in people's thoughts on upgrading to the Playseats WRC as the support connects to the seat and not the center by the pedals.

3) Wheel...we liked the G25, no real issues there but the new Fanatec GT2 is interesting for the dual support even though we are mostly a PS3 group with Shift and GT5. If nothing else, we will do a mod to the shifter and wheel.

Sorry to hear about your friend. Being a racing fan himself, I'm sure he'll approve of the final cockpit you can come up with.

I use a 42" at about 39-44" away, pending your seating position/posture. IT has the wheel almost shown at actual size. It is far enough to not effect your vision, make you dizzy or any of the other side effects. I certainly wouldn't bring it any closer, but I wouldn't see a need to move it out either. I think 42" at 42" away is the sweet spot.

Fanatec GT2 on order for the wheel.

Now just a question of the LCD. I agree with you Bugman, 42" seems to be ideal.

Actually read a poor review on the WRX seat with issues of the wheel support having too much play in it so we will be sticking with the Playseat Evo. Might do an all black one with the Alcatara covering just to make it stand out from the other white/silver ones.
