So far nobody i have asked about this issue can help me out. Basically if i don't touch my pc for approx 30 seconds then it goes to the log out screen, now heres the tricky part that confuses everyone. After its at that screen it will jump back and forth between it and as if i had logged back in. It doesnt even stay on the desktop barely long enough for the wallpaper to show, basically it shows it briefly then logs back out before it even has time to show any icons and such. People have said, oh its your auto log off or its your settings in screen saver....? I have checked everything and can't nail this annoying problem. It's not hurting anything so far but geeze its really annoying. As a last resort i will just dump all of my media and such to my secondary drive and reformat my C drive, but i really don't want to because of the hassle. Any suggestions on this one?

Well, do you have the computer set to go into standby after a set time? I know that isn't the true cause, but maybe you could try turning it on or off (depending on which its on now). I'd run some anti-virus and anti-spyware programs next. I'm pretty sure just reinstalling Windows would take care of the problem. AFAIK, reinstalling will not do anything to your existing data, only replace all of the Windows components.

Try going to "Start Menu > Control Panel > Power Options" and checking all of the setting in there. I have my setting going to "Always on" for the Power Schemes. I also set the "Turn off monitor" to 20 minutes and turn off hard disks to never, as well as system Standby.

After you're done with that, go to the "advanced" tab and look to see if "Prompt for password when computer resumes from standby" is checked. If you don't want that login screen to appear anymore, just make sure that part is un-checked.

After that, check out the "hibernate" tab, and i'd just assume turn it off.

Along with the "Prompt for password when computer resumes from standby" you can also uncheck "on resume, display Welcome screen."

If there's any other problems like what you've been having, I would check Microsoft's knowledgebase before you go off and re-format for such a mediocre problem.

A support thread you may find useful.

I have already checked all of the things you guys just suggested, i know i don't even use hibernate but i checked it all just to make sure that my wife didn't change it or didn't infect the pc with some lame type of virus that would change it. First thing i did was run spybot and kaspersky anti to see if i had anything, just some tracking cookies was it. It's strange, i will read up on that link you posted...just dont have time right now have to get to work:yuck:
