HELP!!! This morning I turned on my tv and the screen was blue with these curved lines going across it but I could still see the picture. Then, about 5 minutes later the entire picture went blue with the lines across it. I turned it off then back on. The tv came on for about 3 seconds with no sound or picture, then it shut off with about a second of sound but no picture right before it went completely off. Everytime I turn it back on it does the same thing. I pressed the reset button but that didn't help. I'm in dire need of help. Thanks!!!

I try and press Device or TV Menu in the short amount of time in stays on, that doesn't even appear on the screen.

Do you think my hooking up a PS2 caused this, b /c the manual says something about leaving video games idle. I'm so nervous you guys, I hope my tv isn't permantly broken. :nervous:

Yeah, your TV is probably boned. It should have nothing to do with the ps2, though. Try unplugging it completely from the wall and then plugging it back in. Mitsubishi picture tubes sometimes suck. How old is your set? We got like 10 years out of our medium-sized CRT and now it has permanent squigglevision. However, my neighbor's (older, but much newer than ours) big screen mitsu had permanent damage after a few months of getting his.

Is it still under warranty? Have you had any T-storms lately?

According to Mitsubishi's web site, you have a 1 year in-home warranty. (30 days on the screen itself.)

As for storms, power going out is not the issue, it's spikes and surges. Those can come in through the power line and the cable. Call the customer help number in the manual, they'll tell you what you need to do. As for warranty, if you've got a receipt proving date of purchase, then you've got a warranty. Those extended warranties they sell at the stores are not needed, and are nothing but insurance, actually. Not useful for most people, but very profitable for the stores, and the salespeople.

On the other hand, if you say "lightning damage" to the technician, he'll charge you for the work and have you call your homeowner's or renter's insurance. Keep your mouth shut, just say "My set no workie. Please fix." Some surge protector mfgrs say they will cover connected devices, but I don't know what you have to do to prove it was connected to their device. You might check yours.

A tech just came out and said that the blue picture tube blew out. He says it should be covered by Mitsubishi's warranty. Thanks wfooshee b/c everything you said is true. I did find my receipt and they said thats all I needed. I'm just kind of upset with myself b/c I dished out $55 bucks for the tech. But I'm just one of those girls that freak out when it comes to electronics, lol.

You're welcome. When I looked it up before, I didn't notice if the warranty was parts and labor, or just parts. Sometimes they actually do parts only, in which case the technician has to be paid. If it's parts and labor, you should not have to pay anything, as long as you use an Mitsubishi-authorized service company. On the other hand, I can't imagine them specifying in-home warranty without including labor.
