Help with monitor please!!!

Hi. I have been setting up a dell pentium 4 computer running off of windows Me. I have some old flat screen call a panoview or something. Anyway i set it up and used a double sided monitor type wire thing to hook it up and i get the boot up screen and the me loading screen, btu when it comes to the desktop i get this box that says Input Signal out of range. Any ideas on how to fix?? the monitor also comes with a usb wire coming out of it that i hooked up. When i hook that up i dont even get the boot up screen, it says check video cable. So im lost?? I will show you pictures of the monitor in a sec ...im moving.

boot into safe mode and drop your system's default resolution. You're probably running too high for the monitor to support

Press F8 when your PC is starting up, after the POST, but before windows. (I just keep tapping F8 until it works)

It's most likely the refresh rate that is the problem. Set it to 60Hz, when you're in Safe Mode, then slowly increment it up when you've booted back into full Windows.

I'd agree with both. Usually this problem arises for me when i set the resolution to be higher than the maximum supported resolution. Because the monitor is old, i assume the max res is around 1152 x 864 or 1024 x 768 if it's 17".

You don't get a choice to change the resolution in safe mode though do you? All you get to see is the resolution that safe mode gets displayed in?

ok its a real small monitor. I got it from my dad adn i dont know where he got it. It is a CTX PV630 touchscreen. The max resolution on them are 800x600. I set up a monitor that worked and changed the resolution then and saved it. So now im goign to try to re-hoock up the monitor. I also found that in order to get the touch screen to work i need a drvier whic isnt to be found anywhere on the internet. Also the monitor itself is pretty exclusive. If you search you can find lots of CTX PV--- modles but no 630. I heard it was introduced in 1998 for more industrial jobs.

Yup.

I had a good look around and couldnt find any. Perhaps you could try one of the others. Like the pv700 driver. You never know.
