Well, I've decided that I need a new one. My current scanner (Hewlett Packard ScanJet 5100) is a relic, getting a maximum resolution of 600DPI. From what I hear nowadays, 600DPI is pretty close to rock bottom resolution. So, does anyone have any tips for getting a new scanner? What should I look for? What should I watch out for? if I'm only scanning in photographs, what should I be interested in? etc.

Thanks in advance. :)

(by the way, if I'm wrong, can you please inform me?)

Canon baby, CANON. I bought one for my brother's print shop. He needs the best he can get for his graphics stuff of course and damnit, theirs was as close to the best as we could find. What I really like about it is that there's almost zero image noise on the scans at even the highest settings. Plus it's got a nice big scan bed. It's nowhere near the 11x17 inches like we were initially shopping for, but it'll do 👍.
