Edit- I quit the game went to setting-display setting-video output setting. I noticed at the bottom the where it reminds you to press square to test display the square is also kinda cut off. Is the tv going to be the problem?

I had this, get a widescreen TV

You prob have the tv settings to wide zoom which pulls it but sometimes cuts parts off

On the tv remote it should say picture mode or something like that and just keep clicking it till it fits. It may be when you hit menu and adjust picture size.

It only has an option to rotate the screen.

SDTV never used the FULL resolution Of broadcast, they were always set to overscan.
DVDs were designed to have Black boarders on all sides to allow for over scan.
With devices built for HDTVs this allowance has been removed.

This means the worse the TV set, the Higher the over scan was set to correct the quality of the CRT tube.

GT5 is one game that has an overscan setting in the options.
so youve been to Display settings in the GT5 options menu and adust the set display size.
GT5 will allow you to adjust for up to 10% over scan No more so your out of luck.
It also has this for HDTVs that Dont have Pixel to pixel mode.

The only other option is to remove the back and pray for manual adjustable horizontal and vertical size adjusters but be extremely care full as if you don't know what your doing you can have a shocking time and can make things worse.

I guess I'm out of luck.

Check the local paper/ garage sale and see if you can take a 100hz 42inch Widescreen SDTV of some ones hands for <$20. They normaly dont have such a big amount of overscan.
this way While you save for that 52 inch 3D plasma, you'll still be playing games and can see more of the interface display.

Exactly. 👍

@OP, try in the PS3 menu & in the game to setup it to a maximum of underscan. And maybe try to switch from 16:9 letterbox to 4:3 (which would be your TV format).

And maybe check your TV if there is anywhere a button to adjust the under/overscan. I had an old TV where it was possible to do it by a adjustment button on the back of the TV. :dopey:
