Hi all, have recently got a Hitachi PJ-TX300 projector which i finally got round to setting up today.

The problem is that the projector has no speakers,:ouch:, so of course no sound when playing GT5. Silly mistake on my part, my question is how do i now get sound?.

Can i run a set of speakers from one of the USB ports?, if not, :ouch:, from looking at the picture what inputs should i use to get sound from the projector.

Any help guys.

Hey, I don't think you will get any sound from the projector as it has only video inputs.
An USB sound will not work on the PS3.
Your only choice is to connect the PS3 seperate to an audio device by optical cable or with the audio output on the component cable.

Logitec speakers used to come with a connector that went from the ps2/3 component cable to an adapter (for speakers) to the speakers. I think that was on the X-530.
Mine came with the adapter but I don't know if current ones come with it.
It's very easy to set up if you get one that comes with an adapter.

Your other option if you want sound is what spike said, using optical.

Thanks guys, so is it a case of using the port on PS3 normally used to connect to TV by scart.
Can i run that cable into an amp to power speakers, new to all of the good stuff.
Very weird playing with no sound.:grumpy:

The options you have are as follows...

1. Buy a HDMI duplicator (Look for NEET on ebay) this will allow you to run two HDMI cables, 1 for the projector another for any HDMI capable input amplifer.

2. The common PS Multi AV connection lead for stereo audio output (red & white) cables.

3. Optical connection output for upto 5.1 surround sound.

You may need to configure your audio setup in the system menu to which you are using after setting the video.

This is the switch that used to go to my projector. that way i had my xbox, bluray, and directv boxes all plugged into this and the switch controls which input device you wish to send to the projector. PLUS and most importantly, it has an extra digital optical audio (toslink) output so you can send a seperate 5.1surround audio channel to a suround receiver. monoprice customer service is one of the best i have ever used, i would recommend them to anyone.

If you want 5.1 for relatively cheap, I recommend a Sony DAV-DZ260. I got mine ages ago for a little over £180. There are definitely cheaper options (and many more expensive, of course) but I, as a non-audiophile, have found it to be perfectly good quality for the price. It's a bit basic with only HDMI out (it upscales DVDs, not that you need that with a PS3 though), one digital coaxial and one optical TOSLINK port, it's probably got SCART too but who even cares? There's a 3.5mm audio in on the front for iPods and such and a headphone out next to it, a USB port for whatever reason... The remote control is nice and the speakers aren't huge so they're nice and easy to mount or hide or whatever. Big subwoofer, though, but it doesn't have it's own amp so the whole system only needs one mains socket. The unit itself is on the large side, though, but at least that means your PS3 will sit on it nicely...

What else? Oh, it's black and (matte) silver so it matches the PS3 quite nicely, too. It also has a power button. I think I've said all there is to say, except for the fact that it's probably discontinued and has been replaced by something with two useless USB ports instead.

I run a newer version of that Sony system. Now it has a port in back with an iPod dock.
I like it. Now they are selling for under 150$.
