Help with the Clio Trophy

I have been smashing my head against the wall trying to win - of all races - the Clio Trophy :dunce:. The race is conveniently organized to pit you against the Clio Race car which you can only obtain by winning this very race. I've purchased the Clio Sport 2.0 16V, the Clio Sport V6 24V, and the Clio Sport Phase 2 - fully tuned each of them - used the tuning recommendations on this board (which are sparse and not particularly detailed unfortunately) and still have an impossible time winning.

I'd like to just B-Spec the race, with the Race Car, then A-Spec and with the race that way, but I can't seem to tune the car well enough for B-Spec Bob to win the races, much less finish a distant 6th in each one.

I'd be very very greatful for any assistance, up to and including the standard "Suck Less" reccomendations. :sly:

I've had no problem racing in this series. I used a Clio Sports V6 24V, fully modded of course. Maybe you want to check, tires, weight reduction, NOS (personaly i think it's very useful), also buy a racing suspension and drop some heights. You should be able to win.

Fully tune the '03 Cilo, the one that can reach 442HP. I can't remember exactly which one it is. Throw racing soft (R4) tires on it, then try the race again. If that doesn't work, add a rear wing and set it to max downforce for the front and the rear. I would also tune the transmission more for acceleration (turn the autoset down).

The Racing Flywheel and Racing Clutch, if you haven't installed them, improve acceleration. And I'm assuming you've got stage 3 Weight Reduction?

Seriously? I used a '0 V6 I picked up in the used lot. I overcompensated for going up against race cars with waaay too much power (~440, I think), and thrashed the hell out of them.
If Bob can't hack it with a fully tuned car either, you've got some freak nasty race cars as compitition.

I a-specced it. Make sure you use the softest tires that last the distance. Tune the gears and use nitro.

I can't remember this being a hrad one with a tuned Phase 2.

I say don't bspec it.

Its possible your B-Spec driver isn't fully trained yet with that car, or those tracks. Do it in A-Spec with the mods everyone has mentioned, and you should have no problem. If you are havin a problem still after all that, take the game back and pick up Dance Dance Revolution. 👍

Thanks everyone for your help. I tuned up the '03 Clio, added a wing, maxxed out the downforce, dropped the ride height a bunch, and dialed the tranny back for better acceleration. Finally won the Clio Trophy this afternoon on my 2nd try. I guess I just needed to suck less. Thnaks agajn.

I am currently running the race and I dont see the Clio race car... all are Clio sports MR. I have a used CLio MR with R2 tires(important!), NA tune i think stage 2 (~320 hp i think)and stage 2 weight reduction and tranny/suspension/brake/LSD/oil change/wing/exhaust. won the first race suzuka(aspec/didnt have to nitro, but have to qualify for pole). Will try the rest later.

Well, just use a Clio V6, put Turbo upgrade 1 on it, for the rest nothing, and you'll win easily. I had more trouble with the Clio Cup car than with the Clio V6. You don't need to tune the Clio V6 a lot to win these races easily.

When I ran through it all the opponents were the Clio race car. All different shads... turquoise, pink, etc. Tuned my car up to 380hp, left the sport mediums on, and had one hell of a challenging series with the race cars, as I had the straightline speed and they had the turning ability (made the win at Tsubuka with a last straightaway pass... on lap 7). The Clio has a healthy rearward weight bias, so it's a fair bit tricky to handle, likes more than a subtle drift. Have fun with it... and if you need 440+hp... hot damn.

i used a fully modded v6 phase 2 clio, and i had probs, it did go like clappers but as soon as any of the tires went on the grass the car became uber unstable, also at highspeed. The renault clio is a very nervous car. best advice; take it easy. lol

i am having a hard time with the off throttle oversteer with this car. especially on maps with mid speed corners like el capitan and deep forest, as soon as i go off throttle and turn in, the car's back end slips out and i find my self spinnig out.

i have the phase 2 car, fully tuned. the game gives me 5 a spec points if i win. this should be a easy race. the oversteer is killing me.

i am getting frustrated, to the point that i haven't played it since monday.

someone have some driving tips. i know it's a matter of me adjusting my driving style , but i don't have this much trouble with other MR cars like the gariyariyaya(whatever) or NSX's.

try to lower the suspension and change Racing medium tires (i remember for manu races, there is no restriction on tires right)

Congrats on winning.
It shows you are improving 👍
If you find something difficult, do not give up.
If you are not winning it usually means you have picked the wrong car or need to add extra to your existing ride.
Some of the races are more challanging than the others so some you can win in a bone stock car easily and others can be real tough.
I suggest for the 206 (Peugeot) races you buy the 206 rally car and not even bother trying to tune up one of the FWD road cars.

i used a tuned 206RC for the 206 cup :)

and for the clio cup i used the '03 clio (the basically a race car one) and won easily with it tuned...even my b-spec won easily :indiff:

well, when it was on the track it was easy :ouch: i managed to slide it across a straight when i skimmed the grass :scared:
