help with virus protection

I have norton antivirus but it doesnt seem to be stopping all the viruses.can anyone suggest any other programs i could download for free?also, can someone tell me how to find and change my firewall.i have windows xp, if that helps.

Have you updated your antivirus program? AV progs are only as good as their last update. Norton is one of the best AVs to tell the truth.

XP's firewall is very limited. I suggest you download ZoneAlarm for free.

Use McAfee rather than Norton. Check the tweaking thread for a link to AVG Antivirus. It's the only other AV program I'd trust after Mcafee.

For firewalls, as Shannon said, grab ZoneAlarm for now. I don't like it's interface and for some reason I just don't like it as much as I like BlackIce Defender. Still, ZoneAlarm is still pretty damn good. Hell, anything is pretty damn good compared to the windows firewall

Are you serious? McAffee is a load of poo and AVG didn't even pass the VB100% test. I'm using F-Prot for Windows at the moment. Small and secure. 👍

I'm not a big fan of ZA either, but it does the job and it's free. I might check out this BlackIce do-rad of which you speak.
