Help with winning 11: shot too high

I'm a newbie at W11-8 and my biggest frustration with that game is that for a "normal" shot ( just the proper direction and the square button ) the ball always end up way too high above the goal.
In oder to score with a shot, I must be deep inside the penalty box.
Is there any extra button that if activated at shot time would force the ball to be lower.
tia

I have to go now, to practice the "Marseille turn " :)

The problem is that you are pressing the square button for to long, try to watch the force bar and start training.
A good shoot will fill 50 – 75% of the bar.

Muito obrigado para responder a minha pergunta ;)

You are right, but by pressing the right or left direction button right after the shot I think it's possible to make the ball curl to the right or to the left ( the way Ronaldinho Gaucho does it so well ) . So I was expecting the same kind of control to make the ball dip right after a shot, like pressing the direction button down for example.
My dilemma is the following: If I press the square button for too long, the shot is too high and if I don't press it long enough the shot is too weak and the keeper has an easy job at catching it.

Does it matter which foot the player use ? are some players more accurate with the left foot than with the right foot for example ?

Ok, I'm a big PES/W11 freak and I can almost score evey time I attack.
I have scored alots of goal a bit/way outside of the penalty box.
I usually press the square button untill my shoot accuracy is around 50-60% of the bar. And to score, you also need a good angle, a bit diagonally if you are outside of the penalty box ;)

Yep. That's ight. That's why I score 80% of the corner cick.
And you can also do that with the free cicks as well ;)

The timing is very important too. The bar doesn´t even need to be half full as long as your player is running and you press the square button at the right time.

Does that actually work?
I nwas wondering that too. I'll try it right away since my PS2 on and I'm playing PES4 :D

Edit : It works. But it only curves the ball to the right, same with L2.

"Your player is running" you mean I have to press the R1 button so the player is dashing when he takes the shot ?

Could you please give more details about what you call " the right time "

Thanks

Hmm, so that's how you do curved shots.

I'll have to try it out on my patched WE8.

You can shoot when the player is sprinting, but this tends to only work with very good players (Henry, Ronaldinho, Shevchenko etc)I tend to be running at normal pace and just use the sprint for short bursts to beat defenders, or if i'm running allong the wing.

Also the player will have a prefered foot, so sometimes if you don't time the shot correctly he will shoot on the wrong foot and pretty much miss unless he's good with both feet. But it's pretty difficult to notice this, your best bet is to try and shoot at an angle to the right with a right footed player and a left footed player to shoot at an angle to the left. If that makes any sense.

Edit: A good thing to do is take a look at your team's stats, to see whos good at what. So if you have a fast striker who hasn't got very good shooting/power/accuracy/technique and a slow one who is great at shooting, position the fast guy to be behind (not directly but to the side) of the slow guy , so he can play passes into the feet of the guy who can shoot.

Also the through ball (triangle, for allong the ground and triangle and err one of the shoulder buttons for one in the air) is very usefull for beating defenses.

I'm not sure if it does curve the ball but it seemed so to me atleast and it's only when you are running with the ball, not free kick or corner kick ;)

Free/corner kicks curve by themselves, that's what that little stat called 'curve' is for. Although I wonder if it has an affect on the curved shots.

I'd ask at evo-web, but id probably suffer the 'search n00b' thing after scouring the site for information and posting a thread about it.

L1 and R1 curves the ball in free kicks and corner kicks, I always use it.

About the "timing" I was talking about, it´s pretty much what Race Idiot said about using the good foot of the player.

I know a few WE tutorials showing what each button does and combos between them, but they´re in Portuguese. I know you understand some Portuguese, but I´ll try to translate them later and post here, unless someone here knows a tutorial in English already.

Holding Down and X after you make the ball go over the wall (in a free kick) makes the ball 'dip'.Don't know if it works for normal shots.

Thanks for your offer to translate the tutorials written in Portuguese, but it won't be necessary.
I found The most complete website about winning 11 .
They have a complete guide for that game.

But I stiill would appreciate if you can post some good links for WE on Brasillian websites.

The best one I know is W11Online, there´s a lot of good info about WE9 and the older games on it, specially on the forums. But I warn you that there´s a lot of info on patching and editing the games there too, in case you don´t like this kind of piracy much.

I´m getting Winning Eleven 9 next week btw, those who have it already are loving it. I can´t wait to play it! :D
