im using the g25 steering wheel and i really want to start drifting so i read some posts and started out with a low powered car eg amuse 350z basically no power to the wheels so it was really slow and when i start my drift it goes but when i try to countersteer nothing happens what so ever it just spins out. This basically happens everytime i try to drift. Whats wrong?
 
Practice is key to all things motorsports related. Drifting is a skill that takes a while to develop and actually get good at. Read how to perform all of the initiation techniques and learn to use them. Use the same tires front and rear, do not mix tires. It is a learning crutch and a bad habbit that is hard to break. Just practice and it will click eventually.
 
lol @ people being surprised drifting is harder in a sim then in need for speed carbon. You can't just spin out the back end and expect to drift like a pro. Go drive around the same coarse for 4 hours and then come back and tell us what you learned.
 
I started drifting using the tuned cappucino, the cappucino is very easy to control you should try it!

i never played nfs really never liked the series and i used to be able to drift in gt4 somewhat decent but i dont know ive never been able to even drift a corner once it always spins out i never go in to fast and i always try to counter steer but nothin comes about it the car will always spin out
 
Pratice is all i can say
 
I'm no drift god or anything ( I think I suck at it really) but I would say try counter steer sooner and More aggressively and don't just hold the gas wide open.
 
yea, kind of like Zodicus said. Throttle control is key. practice with the low powered cars, so you get the feel for it. soon enough you will master it, and put up some great point runs ;)
 
Something else to try. Run some time trial laps with a decent powered car. You'll be stuck with s3 tires. Now push hard into some corners & let the rear kick out some. Dont try to drift, just get used to the feel & response needed (countersteer) when your rear slides out. That will give you a starting point for drifting. Baby steps my friend...and a crapload of practice.
