Yeah, once again it's me. I was reading some song lyrics and I think I have a spyware. Suddenly, my homepage was changed to some sort of search page. I can't change it either. I have tried but it won't work.

Help. Is there any program that I can get rid of it?

Ad-Aware is all you'd need for that, Sunny. Just run the test once, select everything, and click the "Next" button.

Also, rollazn, you may need to go into the Internet Options page and change the homepage back, because Ad-Aware doesn't change the page back for you, and if you leave it, your homepage will just load that site and you'll have the same troubles over again.

Go to My Computer. In the list down the left hand side, find "Control Panel". In control panel find "Internet Options". Open it, and in the space provided change your homepage back to what it should be.

Just in case you didn't know. :)

Ad-Aware is not always able to find everything, SpywareBlaster prevents spyware, and Spybot gets rid of what Ad-Aware can't.

It helps to have Ad-Aware running all the time on your PC. I'd let it do its stuff after every internet session if you're using internet explorer - the rest of my family use IE, and I forgot to Ad-Aware four days in a row, and I had 132 critical objects, and most of those had already got a hit somewhere on my PC!

Also - this won't stop spyware, this is just handy to have - I'm using F-Prot antivirus, and it's worked perfectly for me now, for months. I highly recommend it. 👍

Ad-Aware only scans, or am I missing something?

From what I remember, it's impossible to keep Ad-Aware protecting you, all it does is take out the spyware, unless you've got the licenced version, but I'm not sure if even that runs the whole time.

SpywareBlaster on the other hand, all you do is run it once, and well, that's enough.

I expect it's because it's about 3am here and I'm fair knackered. :dunce:

What I meant is, install Ad-Aware and use it after every single net session.

I use to get those sorts of spyware all the time. Ad-aware did nothing for it, neither did spybot search and destroy. The only way for me to clear it up was to download highjackthis http://hijackthis.de/hijackthis_198.zip. It will give you a readout of ALL the services/registry installs that are running, and give you the option to delete what you want from what was scanned. Since it doesn't dictate what's spyware and what isn't, you'll have to know your system pretty well as to not delete anything valuable. This isn't hard since it gives tiny readouts as to what does what, and anything questionable is solved with a quick google search.

Hey this is my 100th post, where's my damn option to use a custom avatar?

I don't think one thing will do it, but a combination of the best programs like Ad Aware, Spybot, and Hijackthis, should be good enough 👍.
