Hi all
ok down to business, did anyone have sound troubles after installing Windows SP2 for XP?
Yeh, i found the best way to fix that was just re-install the drivers(easier said than done), a pain in the neck, but, im far from been a computer genious, took me a couple of months to find out exactly what the problem was and how to fix it exactly lol, i reinstalled sound blaster 2 and suddenly it worked fine.
Now, my dad came over, downloaded loads of updates and all stuff to make sure its totally secure
and now, low and behold! The sound no longer works
I tried re-installing the drivers, going into volume properties etc, nothing has worked, everything from mute to bloomin making sure the speakers were plugged in!
right so long story short, sound goes, sound comes back and then GOES again! this time i can't get it back
any advice or help would be much appreciated
thanks

Hmmmm very odd, well, i will investigate this trouble with my machine further in the hope that someday i can determine the cause of the exact problem and fix it.
thanks for your even slightest concern lol

Have you tried getting the latest drivers from the sound card's website. Maybe your current driver's are old and can't handle the current XP updates.

  • Are your speakers on
  • Have you tried playing with the settings of the volume window
  • Going into systems by right clicking on My Computer - Properties - and then going to the device manager and uninstalling the drivers, and then restart your computers. The computer will detect your sound card as new hardware and installing it.
  • Have you tried settings in this (right click on volume button and choose Adjust audio properties) -

If you have tried all of this try this (you need to have an administrative user account) - http://www.computing.net/windowsxp/wwwboard/forum/118993.html
