Damn, that's one helluva mess.

I guess the press got confused at one point. Spot the flaw...

The Iranian air force is believed to have about 15 ageing US-made C-130s in operation

:D

Ahhhhhh, right. Missed that part. I thought it was a comment about the Iranian Air Force operating Hercules.

 Famine, wrong? It's the apocalypse! :scared:
👍  Quick, someone quote it in their sig!...

On the topic of the crash though - sad news made all the worse by the rumours saying there were known problems with this aircraft:
BBC News Story
It was said to have nearly crashed a week ago, and its engines had to be switched on and off five times before it could take off on its final flight.
Unsurprisingly, they try to blame their poor aviation standards on the US though:
BBC News Story
Officials blame the high frequency of crashes on a lack of aviation spare parts due to US sanctions.

Well, they can't get parts because of U.S. sanctions. Thing is, they still try to fly the C-130s, in spite of that.

C'mon its not even their planes and they're complaining about us not giving parts to an known enemy. Sad that they knew it would probably crash yet they still flew it anyway.
