Here's a thought - list of accomplishments for each car

Okay - how's this for a thought for the next GT.

We all get emotionally attached to cars in our garages.

To further this attachment, wouldn't it be good if when you selected a car in your garage, as well as spec and info you could also select a list of championships that car had won, plus statistics of placings in races.
 
I've wanted best lap times on each course (no matter how you ran the course) for each car. I think we're starting to take up a lot of room on a memory card, but heck ... all these stats would be so cool to have!

Well, we had better than that in GT1, the lap record was for each event in each series of races. I really miss that. It can't be that big a demand on memory, can it?

Remember in GT2 the lap record was on the screen but didn't work?
 
I didn't get to play those two very much. A friend of mine had both though so I did get a feel for it. It would be pretty cool to have something in the way of "Race History Stats" based on each car. A simple start would be to just record their winning status, maybe lap times on courses and finish times on races. But if you really want to step it up, they could have it save all the settings and specs for the car at the time the record was created. That would be some cool stuff.

I looked at my memory card usage yesterday. To my surprise GT3 is using the least amount of storage of all my saved items (I believe ...). A 5 minute replay save from TT10 was only 50kb! I guess that comes from REALLY intelligent programmers that know how to save space. I have a save game from something I rented and played for a couple hours that takes up so much more space. I think it was over 300kb. So I guess the need for a second card is completely out.

I'm going to start another thread with my other suggestion (:

I noticed the replay files were small - they must have been superclever with how the file accesses the car file and where the car's placed on the road.

I bought a second card (admittedly at a solid discount) when I first bought the PS2 and other than saving shamefully cheated games I really haven't needed it.
 
I think that's all I'd use it for. If I could get one for $10 or $15 I might do it. But suddenly the money is tight (go figure ...) so I'm not really shopping for much of anything right now. Did I mention I had to write a check to my Mom for $800 for a list of things - half of which I don't even remember? Yeah, finances are getting close now. And I had just promised myself to start saving for a new car in a couple years, a trip to a far away place, and a nice house.

ARRRRRRRRrrrrrrr .... now I'm going to go to bed because the only thing left going for me is working out in the morning with my lady friends. Hey, there's no way I'd get out of bed for a hairy faced man, but a couple former cheerleaders can get me up and going before the Sun wakes up.

I can get the 16mb card for 30 at Fry's electronics... you should look for it.
 
Actually, I doubt the memory card thing would be an issue. Perhaps I missed something (I do that often).

The Hard drive is being released as a package with the rest of the online components (from what I gather). This will (hopefully) rule out the need for more memory cards.

Good thing, 'cause in my neck of the woods (anyone know what that expression means?) I haven't been able to get a new memory card for the last 3 months. Everywhere is sold out. :(

I believe it's from an original meaning of the word "neck" as meaning parcel. So a "neck of the woods" meant a piece of wooded land.

Ok, Riddle me this Batman - I think GranTurismo 4 is going to be the "best thing since sliced bread". Umm... what did they say before sliced bread?

lol - ok, well... since I always sidetrack myself and go way off onto some other tangent - Vatman I agree - individual car stats would be fantastic.

I haven't done it so much with GT3, but with GT2 and the original, I had one "go-to" car that I loved to use. hehehe - surprisingly enough, my Mini was my favorite in GT2.

Did you attach rockets to it? Or, I guess, you had something with a little more 'umph' for the faster races.

Note - I didn't win a lot with the car. It was just a riot to drive. Man... I can't even remember why I loved that car so much. I'm gonna have to bite the bullet, fire up GT2 and take a couple of rips around the track.

Just a side note - (since most of my comments are) - Anyone ever try using the texture smoothing option with GT2? I haven't played any PS games other than Crash Bandicoot on the PS2 with the smoothing on.

lol - well, this is my last post on this before we get it yanked for being off topic - *way* off topic...

If you are a fan of useless trivia, I'd have to suggest one of the books from this series.
