Dacia is going to race in the Unlimited class at the Pikes Peak Hill Climb this year with the Duster!

But seriously, Its got a 4.5L V8 from the FIA GT1 Nissan GT-R tuned to 850 HP. It will be driven by Jean-Philippe Dayraut.

Wow, James May will be ecstatic! :)

I Don't think it will beat the Monster/Suzuki combo though.

It does look abit like the Escudo.

Awesome. Can't wait to see that.

I've seen the Duster in action in the Trophee Andros. It's not actually that bad, even if it is a Dacia. Though it may have something to do with Alain Prost being the one driving it:

But the Pike's Peak spec looks rather ugly. It's like they've bolted a home-made spoiler made out of aluminium onto the back end.

It's a Dacia. Putting effort into appearance will not change the fact that it will always be a Dacia :sly:.

Personally, I think it looks quite good, interested to see how it will perform.

I wouldn't say it looked good, but the design is interesting, especially at the rear end. I never though I'd see a Hillclimb version of any Dacia, let alone the Duster, so I'd like to see how it gets on during the Pikes Peak event in June.

The aerodynamics don't look nearly half as polished as the Escudo. The front-canards look like a drag-inducing turbulent mess and I'm not sure that middle wing will be very effective given the possible interference in airflow from the rear wheel-arches. They might refine it before the competition, though, so you never know... and the underbody work, what we can see of it, looks okay.

Okay, on further inspection, they've made some effort at creating some wing area between the upright and the front fender... but it's not nearly enough... not like here:

Where you have that huge blistered fender boxed in by the upright wing component. They've really got to get that sorted before the race. Still... they have way too little aero for the amount of power they're putting down... so I doubt they're going to be a front-runner in this one.

Its looks like someone has seen the picture posted above, thought "hey! my car can look just as good as that!". They've then set down to work, watched "The Fast and the Furious", some Top Gear episodes and blown the entire budget of 'whatever was in my pocket'. The Dacia duster at the Andros looks professional, but the pikes peak looks like a 15 year old's project. Which was left to the very last minute.

I hope they don't actually race it with the taped on cardboard...
