I don't know, maybe it's just me but isn't it funny to you guys that the game itself actually knocks on the mustang's handling.     Ever watched the opening thing, or do you always skip it,  I was doing something this morning and it played through.  And the game itself shows a mustang svt cobra r spinning like hell when it tried to take a medium sized turn. !!!!!!!!!! Ahahahahahaha.  Anyway just thought that was humorus.

So...it was just showin' EXACTLY how the Mustang REALLY handles when you play with it on the game...? :D

Ford Mustang SVT Cobra R = Zero Handling.

Well, it all depends how much time you are willing to spend in setting up the car.

My buddy and I raced at Laguna Seca.  He had his 1000+ horsepower Supra that was bound to destroy my little 670 horsepower ZO6.  I had the thing dialed in for the track, he did not.  He got smoked.

Spend a half hour tuning your car for a certain track.  You'll be surprised what it can do.

While I admit that an F1 car can out handle a Cobra in GT3, the Cobra can still take a corner like nobody's business.  Its all in the suspension, and the ability to brake REALLY early.  I can take the last 2 turns on midfield at around 100Mph if I set up correctly.  RWD is the best for high speed driving, no doubt, but at the low speed required by many courses (R11, Seattle, Complex String, etc) it dosent compare to even little crappy cars.

The independant rear suspension in 99 helped a lot though.

Halelujiah, Sing it Brother!                                                                                      😈 😈 😈 😈 😈 😈 😈

I would go with Chevy anyday over Ford, my dad is a 30 year veteran at GM.

But i honestly have to say....Would you really like to see a world with Chevy but no Ford?

I wouldn't. I think it is like the old proverb. Light does not shine without darkness. Shadows do exist without light.

I hate to break it to you guys, but this game doesn't portray the SVT Mustang Cobra R very well...A Cobra R handles better than a Z06. You don't have to take my word for it, check out the August 2000 issue of Motor Trend to see track times between the Vette and the Cobra R. The track they used was a small tight road course. And i am not a Ford lover, i happen to own a '94 Camaro. I just thought i'd tell you guys to stop rippin' on the car, cuz in real life it is actually a beast not to be reckoned with.

yeah, i used the mustang as my second car, when i was first starting GT3 (ah the memories..) :) anyways, i have it to like 720 some HP, its fun to go peel out with, but thats about it now that i have much better cars...

They wouldn't have been able to make Gone in 60 seconds if there was no mustang. Shelby GT-500 was a classic that no car, not even porsche 911 could beat.

i was watching speedvision the other day and they were testing a viper, mustang svt cobra and a corvette zo6. the corvette came out on top. it was .4 seconds slower then the viper on the 1/4 mile but was 3 seconds faster then the viper on the track and 4.7 seconds faster then the cobra. all while the corvette is 45,000 cheaper then the viper and only 8k more then a svt.

That's pretty weird, cuz i have an issue of Motor Trend that also tests a Vette Z06, a Viper Rt/10, and a Cobra R, and the Cobra R wins on the track...

Vipers and Mustangs and Vettes oh my
These are all fine automobiles, each with their unique charms.

For those that knock mustangs for power, go to a drag race sometime. You'll be amazed how many sub 9 second "mudstains" you see.

For those that knock it for handling, go watch an amateur road race. If there is a Cobra R at the event, it will win unless its driven by a rich dentist with too much money. They are great cars, and since the 99 cobra, they handle great. They dont handle like FF rice burner, but thats because they are made to handle well at high speeds, not run a quarter mile slalom. i.e. HIGH PERFORMANCE.

the mustang cobra R is much cheaper than the vettes too, and for the money, you can make it go faster, i own a 1968 mustan fastback and it is quick and a great car
