massive fan of gran turismo way back since it started.
this online racing in sport is unbelievable
although my dr is d and im trying to improve how do other cars go so much faster if all cars are evenly balanced.
also how many ranks up is it from d to c driver rating,
any tips will be greatly appreciated.

The DR -system bases on points which you can't see. But they are indicated with a white bar underneath the letter in your profile menue. When the white bar is full, you will get to the next letter, in your case from D to C.

The points are:
D: 0-4000
C: 4000-10000
B: 10000-30000
A: 30000-50000
A+: 50000-75000

In a race you give about 80 points to someone who finishes before you and get the same from someone behind you. For example:
Daily race with 12 drivers and you finish 4th.
That means you give 3x80= 240 and get 8x80= 640, so when you count it together:
640 + (-240) = 400 are the points you gain in this case.

This 80 points are simplified from me. It applies to someone with a similar rank. But now you should have at least a feeling how it works and how many races depending on your results you need to climb up to the next stage

Turn on counter steer assist to go faster. Also, download and watch replays of the top guys to see how they drive.
 
The quicker drivers have put in more practice. There's no magic tip to compete with them other than doing the same. Keep putting the miles in and you'll eventually improve.

Watching the top drivers is good if you're at a level to be able learn from them. As a DRD struggling to reach C, you'll be trying to run before you can walk so get the basics down before you start looking at advanced techniques.
