SMITHY46
hi everyone im new to GTP and to be honest new to PS3 gaming, i used to have an xbox 360 with 13 games but traded it all in for my PS3 with GT5P. i did this from looking on this forum and noticed how amaizing the game looked. At the moment i have been online and won a couple of races, sadly i have also noticed alot of the punters :grumpy: Gladly i can say i am not one of them :sly:
Anyway i have just updated GT5P after 5 attempts lol and decided to do a TT in my new Mines R34 round Fuji Speedway (not sure which one, its the one with the tight hairpin near the end, the one where the dredded punters attack lol, the long track) anyway i managed a 1,42,983 which is about 0,800 of a second infront of 2nd place. i wounded if this is a good time for a noob:scared: in my Mines R34 or did the scoreboards reset after the update?

ive just looked up the track and i can say it was Fuji Speedway F, i managed 1,42,983 with the good old sixaxis. i was thinking of getting a G25 but when my mate from school had a wheel with forza 2 he said he was not competative any more so he sold it. i wounded does the G25 or any wheel have any benifits to a sixaxis? because my mate said it just made him slow and go into the gravel.

G25 is very competitive with the controllers. It is easier to feather the throttle and the brakes. It also feels more "realistic" because you won't see a DualShock 3 waiting for you in a GT-R in place of the steering wheel, shifter and pedals tomorrow morning in your driveway.

It sounds like your mate needs more practice. Cars don't turn like they do in Crazy Taxi with the wheel.

lol, i have to say from moving from forza 2 to GT5P there are many difrences. for a start the grafics is GT5P are stunning compared to forza 2 and in my opinion forza 2 feels more like an arcade racer than something that can give GT5P a run for its money lol
i also believe that the ABS was alot easier to control on forza 2 but on GT5P it is more of a challange which i like. im not sure if the ABS is easier to control or not with a wheel and pedals, but like hamstrings said it maybe easier because you can control the accelerator and brakes more.
lol crazy taxi brings back memeries of when i was a young boy.

welcome to the forums bud, G25 is well worth it was in the same position myself, I got my wheel for 160 pounds with delivery from scan.co.uk. It adds loads more realism you actually feel like your there especially with the force feedback the wheel shaking left and right when your traveling at high speed or hit the apex

thanks for the advice tonyt3rry, i might just have to get myself a wheel then, first ive got to get those overalls back on and get myself back up to my dads garage and get my hands dirty to earn some cash lol

will be worth it in the end, be good on your lap times aswell. Forgot to add its better controling the car when someone hits you by accident

i just managed a 1,42,455 so i am getting better but it is realy frustrating because on my goast lap i am about 0,300 of a second quicker so i know i can go faster than a 1,42,455 but through sector 3 (where the realy tight hairpin is) my goast will come flying past me when ive gone though the sector just as fast, its like the tyres are getting warn (understear) but the next lap is fine.

welcome aboard , will look for you on-line ( good luck , still a lot of punters out there , but there are good days ahead for you in this )

my mate (the one i was talking about earlier) has just bought a PS3 with GT5P and he is fast, very fast to say he uses the sixaxis. he is also clean and wanted to go into other races where there is clean drivers im affraid i only use the begginer events right now so i canot realy advise him on what race to do.
can any of you help me and my friend by telling us some races that is mostly full of fast clean races?
sorry just had to put it in, my mate is only 15 and he just won the youth men bike cross country regional championship. i cant believe that i mean hes only 15. LOL

The good clean Online racing will come in when PRIVATE ROOM patch will be out in a month or 2. PD says FALL!

I have a G25, it is really worth it. It gives you adventage over controller, since you can have more precise GAS, Brake, and control. With that wheel, you can feel everything the car is doing. And once you play with G25, even with new GTDFP wheel, you will feel like you were missing a lot from playing with controller. I think GT5P with new patch, has one of the best wheel feels and force feedbacks from any other SIM racer on PC!

By the way, did you download the new patch?

You won't find very many clean races in the beginner section. Finish Class A and go Expert. The license events are good practice.

i have done class S now i just bought the F2007 and i dont see what you can realy do with it lol
is there races online for the F2007

there are currently no f1 races online, i just bought the car yesterday and i personally think its bad ass, i did about 3 complete laps in it yesterday and it is way different then a regular car, i managed to do a 1 minute 38 second pass at Suzuka, so about 10 second shy from the number 1 spot :nervous:, but i guess there is room from improvement, going from that car to a regular car sucks.

ye if you have only just got it there is alot of time to improve, when i first got the car i couldent get used to the turning and braking its just awsome.
i hope PD put most of the F1 cars in GT5 i would love to thrash Hamiltons car round Suzuka

Semi hijack to say I'm also a new poster, so hello everyone.

Also, I reckon getting a wheel is well worth it regardless of any performance advantage/disadvantage. It ups the 'immersion' value 100%.

Hello Smithy and MrKipling. Welcome to the forums and to GT5P.

As a recent convert from the six-axis to a G25, I've found correcting errors much easier. Counter steering to correct a poor corner entry while feathering the accelerator is something I could not master using a controller. I can't speak for other wheels. But, I really enjoy the G25 for the realistic feel and the chance to apply more accurate adjustments to my driving line.

Hope to see you guys online.:)

SMITHY, even tho I am in USA, add me in. There might be a server with PRO physics and open region that we can RACE sometime :)

Welcome to the forums guy! I got way excited when I placed 25th on Fuji in the S2K, but then I realized the times all got reset. Anyway, I look forward to racing with you sometime. PSN ID: ACE_N_RANDIE
Peace

LOL MrKipling43 no prob mate, if anything it will be better for the thread by keeping it going.
oh and welcome to the forums.

ye i will look forward to racing with all you guys, i believe racing with the best can only improve your driving style and therefore make you faster.
at the moment i am racing in begginer and winning by about 5 seconds. i will have to race with you guys for more of a challange and to inprove my speed.
oh and thanks to everyone for welcoming me to the forums.

I never raced with standard physics online.. I think its for general people. PRO physics in ONLINE battle shows who has balls!

Thanks for the welcome chaps.

Look forward to seeing some of you online. My PS3 online username is the same as it is on here.

ive just done a few races on pro and finished 3rd a lot of times, i believe i could have finished higher but some people on there can punt you off.
oh and i just fount something new about my driving, im not very good when i am in a big group, i dont know why i just am.
and because im new to no driving line im not sure where to brake but i am getting better, so if you see me braking a long way from the corner im not brake checking you im just not used to no braking line yet

thank you.
