hello! i am so glad to be part of this awesome forum! i would love it if you guys could give me some pointers on how to make good threads so i am not the most hated person on this site :) (who wants that?) i have also been reading around and it sounds like lots of you people are having trouble on the special condition event hall and i am here to tell you all that if you can afford the Evo Super Rally car that it will make your lives so much easier. and the best part is that it can mostly be kept stock (except on a few hard races) -- with the excepton of dirt/ snow tires. it would be awesome if you guys could help me out THANKS!!!:)

Welcome ESR 👍
A lot has already been mentioned, answered and asked so be sure to make your post meaningful.
Read the stickies on all the subforums and if you find you've got something additional that's not covered there yet by all means go ahead. Surely you've seen the quality posters in this forum, their content should give you an idea.
Stick to the rules and you should be fine.

Again a warm welcome !

AMG.

And make sure to use the search function before asking a question. :)

one more thing... i noticed that there are some threads that are "locked out" who does this the person that posted the thread or what and what is the purpose?

Once in a while, someone posts a thread that is duplicated. When this happens, gtplanet's moderators or administrators will lock the thread to basically, get rid of it. This can be avoided by using the search function to make sure that thread you wanted to make don't actually exist already. I'd say over 50% of the time, they do.

Anyway, welcome to gtplanet, and I hope you visit the "off-topic" forum as well. We talk about everything there. :)

P.S. Come to think of it, yes, thread starter can lock their thread as well if you are a Premium Member. I think it costs like $3.99 a month or something like that to become one. Edit: I was way off on rest of the information. Here's more - https://www.gtplanet.net/premium/payment.htm

And your "Day 694" thread would be a pretty good example of what not to start a thread for.

Just make sure you've read all 10,000 threads and every single faq, no matter how obscure, so you don't ask the same question that's been asked and answered 1000 times. Make doubly sure you've read every locked thread which indicates someone has asked the most idiotic question known to man. For example: What's the best car for me to drive? What's the best car in GT4? Why are there no cars from X manufacturer? How do I win X race? (my personal favorite-->) Which Skyline is the best to buy? (or) How do I race Laguna Seca's Reverse track?)

Otherwise, no soup for you.

Oh yeh, welcome to GT Planet. (and don't be scared to ask questions that fall within the guidelines yet are intellectually stimulating)

Funny, I haven't heard that one asked before. ;)

I understood what he said... so do I get a dollar? ;)

BTW: He was referring to the last example of questions already well covered in GTP that SireBerra gave:

How do I race Laguna Seca's Reverse track?
It has one of the most famous/treacherous downhill corkscrews... but there is no reverse course option.... except when goofing off in practice mode or in a race that you aren't interested in winning. :)

Taking the Corkscrew in reverse just shouldn't be. It would be like owning a Ferrai that wasen't red or whacking a turbo on a sub 100hp car...it just shouldn't happen :)

Theres a hell of a lot of turbo cars with uner 100bhp including one of mine, and theres a lot of Ferrari's that arn't red.

Probably at least 30 cars in GT4 are under 100hp with a turbo stock. Most of them are the kei cars. Horrible powerbands on those things, for track driving at least. The power is right where they would need it for driving in the city though, I suppose. I still find it funny that a Honda CBR600RR sportbike produces 115hp out of a naturally aspirated 600cc I4 and the kei cars' 600cc three cylinders can only manage 63hp with a turbo.

That's because Japan's keicar regulations have an upper horsepower limit of 64 hp. I'm not sure why they have to add a turbo, though, since they only have to make 64 hp... maybe to make it easier for certain customers to boost up their rides if they so desire?
