mclaren, did you order a lamborghini murchilago from there for 29.99? because i found mine at sam's(club) for 10,its even a miasto like it says on that sight. now i have to talk my mom into letting me get a bentley speed 8 and a toyota gt1 ts020

also, if it is just a casual car(not a race car) you MIGHT be able to find it at some store near you (target, walmart, hobby shop, etc.) it will probably be cheaper at some store so check there first.

If you want to develop your model-building skills to approach a professional level, go to this site:

www.italianhorses.net

The guy who runs it specializes in building 1/24 Ferrari kits, but you can learn a lot in his informative step-by-step tutorials section!

And remember, Tamiya is the best for cars. I don't work for them or anything, I've just wasted enough money on bad kits to think I am entitled to save other modellers from doing the same!

If you can find alot of good tutorials, you can easily get by w/ other brands of model kits. Tamiya is just really expensive. I'd suggest starting out w/ much cheaper models and getting your skills honed. From there, you can go to the more expensive models. Just my thoughts.

True, Tamiya is usually twice the price of other kits, but I started building Revell and AMT kits when I first began, and the finished product was never very rewarding. I actually decided not to build any more models at one point, because they were of such poor quality. Most of them used to be molded in all one color plastic and the parts didn't fit very well, and the tires and chrome pieces were awful looking.

But now you can actually get much better kits, particularly from Revell, that are starting to approach Tamiya in terms of quality, and they're still only half the price and sometimes less.

But Tamiya makes the best kits, and they're not THAT expensive if you know a good hobby shop that doesn't have to raise their prices too much to cover their cost of importing them, and they're usually dirt-cheap on eBay especially when you buy some of the older Tamiya kits.

And Tamiya has rights for a lot of the race cars that are found in games like GT3, if you want a list and or pictures, check out my thread about Tamiya kits in this forum.
Bottom line, if you still need practice buy domestic kits. But I don't see the point in working really hard to make a crap kit look good when you can pay a little more money and have a kit that looks good from the get-go.

I got mine from Sams. The last one I saw on Scalecars was $15. Tempting until I saw Sams.

For beginners, Revell and AMT are more than good enough. Especially if you do a little research on what you're building. That way, you can put in more detail. Revell also has decent customer service. If you screw up a couple parts, you can order them off the website.
As previously said, Tower Hobbies is really good. The product website can be useful, and a simple Google search can go a long way.

Hehe...I'm biased. www.monstergtforum.com/forum is another forum I spend way to much time at. I have a Monster Gt (See Avatar) It is awesome. I did a Language Arts report on it. .21ci engine; 3 shoe clutch; 2 speed; 3 gear differentials; 8 oil-filled shocks; hi torque servo; and a lot other stuff. go to www.teamassociated.com or www.traxxas.com and don't get a t-maxx. They blow and the 2.5 engine is fidgety. HPI savage, traxxas revo, CEN Genisis, tamiya tnx...I'll get back to you on that. I have a lot of time to research these so I know quite a bit. Just search.
