My UK version of GT4 should be arriving tomorrow and im considering buying the logitech formula force pro steering wheel.

But i have a steering wheel for my pc, which is USB and is a good quality sterring wheel.
(WingMan® Formula™ Force)

As its usb would it be possible to play it on the ps2 (as it has usb ports)? If not is there some sort of converter?

I would think it will not work as drivers etc etc need to be installed. but if it saves me spending £100 when this wheel cost me £100 2 years ago i will use this wheel.

Thanks for looking!

wow, have you never heard of the famous driving force pro? one of the best wheels on the market, made especially for GT4 and works great for PC, too.

Wingman Formula force GP worked on Prologue, i think it will work also on GT4, i am getting it these days... but some people already told me that it is working on full version of GT4

Yes we know that the new logitech wheels will work with playstation and PC. But is there one that is pc based that will work on Playstation. I have found that the Logitech Formula force will work, As long as the connection used is USB direct.

I have both types ( USB and Serial, serial has a usb adapter) the usb direct connection works straight away no problems. The serial adapter however does not. The playstation i am using is the 2nd? model i think.

Larger of the sysytems with the IR receiver built in. I am still to try the small new PS2 unit, i have that test lined up on the next couple of days with another mate wanting the same answers.

I hope this does help a few of us that want to save the little money we have left after buying GT4.

Having followed this steering wheel fuss quite closely I think I will throw in my two cents. I have heard from someone else who tried the Wingman Formula Force on GT4 that the wheel itself works, but that the pedals do not. Not being able to check this myself I can't absolutely confirm, but I do think that it would completely negate the experience not to be able to use pedals.

Okay now that that bit is over I have a quick point to make. When you get GT4, why not try the wheel you already have on it yourself. Make sure you plug it into the top (or left-most if you have a slimline PS2) USB port on your console. If it works, bonus, if not then I have a suggestion. Instead of spending a wallet crippling 100 quid on the new driving force, why not do what I did when I discovered my MOMO was incompatible; spend 30 odd quid on the original (and perfectly functional) Driving Force wheel (I got mine from www.savastore.com in the UK). It has the same excellent force feedback effects as the 100 quid wheel but is less than half the price. Not only that but it is fully supported by Logitech's PC drivers and has more (fully assignable) buttons than the Formula Force. Do you really need 900 degree steering for anything other than 3 point turns?

Good luck Dean and let us know what you discover/decide.

Mike

Whoops, sorry. I should have looked more into the DFP. All the ads I've seen for it have all been about PS2 and GT4 (with one ad saying 'Designed for GT4') so I assumed it was only for PS2. Thanks for the help 👍

Is there any way to get the MOMO up&running on ps2? coz i've got one myself as well, it's awesome on PC, and i think it just kinda of waste if it can not be used with ps.

Mate I honestly don't think its possible, I can double check when i get back to uni, but I heard that Sony specifically blocked its inclusion. I genuinely recommend picking up the driving force if you can get it cheap; it isnt as amazing as the momo, but GT4 should be experienced with a wheel and the driving force stands up to the test admirably.

will my MS Forcefeedback wheel work on GT4, probably without forcefeedback but I don't wanna spend more money on another wheel, as this one cost £100 and my joystick did too..

Hmmmm.... Now I'm going to have to go home and see if my Formula Force GP works with the PS2. Honestly, I'll be a little annoyed if it does, since I already ordered a refurbished Driving Force from eBay. Oh well, it was only $30, and I already had the money in my PayPal account, so I guess it's not a big loss.

A Microsoft wheel will definitely not work, USB or otherwise. The deal is with Logitech for USB ps2 wheels. Plus you really need to experience the force feedback.

UKTopGun, if you care enough to own a MOMO (like me) pick up a driving force from savastore or something!

I have tried the Logitech formula force on the PS2 and success.
The wheel is the one with usb connection not serial ( I have both now).

This also works with the new small PS2 unit so my friend has just bought a second hand one for $36 to have also.

The force feeed back is a little less (may be a good thing after reading all the reports about it on the new DFP) Can also set the buttons up for reverse and nitro on the wheel and not have to depend on the normal gamepad. 👍 👍 👍

I can confirm that the Wingman Formula Force GP pedals don't work, but the wheel does. You can remap the throttle to the buttons, but it's crap for obvious reasons.:(

i got the Wingman Formula force gp ,and it works on the comp and the ps2 with GT4.

Replied to the earlier post in case I forgot, then I read this.

Do the pedals actually work? If so, how did you do it? I wondered if actually plugging the AC in would do the trick, but couldn't be bothered to dig out my power supply from under my desk.
