High-end racing wheels?

I've been thinking of finally getting a wheel to play racing games and wanted to get some information from you guys. I'd love to get a high end wheel like the ones from Fanatec...the only problem is they're all porsche themed, no plain wheels. Are there any other high end wheels that are similar to the Fanatecs, or are they in a league of their own? How about the mass-prodiced wheels? Logitech etc? Any info is appreciated, thanks.
 
I second the OP's question(s) because I'm in the same boat.
I feel like I need to make the jump from DS3 to Wheel as much as I needed to jump from AT to MT back in GT4.
 
As a former logitech G25 user, I highly recommend the GT3 RS V2 with Clubsport Pedals. I think I paid $350 (USD) and it arrived in about 2 weeks.

Had it about 3 weeks now. Time will tell if it holds up over the long haul ... The problem I had with the logitech wheels (e.g., G25, G27) is the dead zone. Often had to grip the wheel very tight and fight the force feedback. With the GT3, I can take my hands off the wheel going down a straight and it will continue to go straight as an arrow with no wheel movement.

And the Clubsport pedals are sweet, love the programmable ABS vibration on the brake.

As a G27 and GT3 RS V2 owner, I'd recommend the G27. The Fanatec is a great wheel, don't get me wrong (and I plan in ordering another Fanatec for my 360 as well) but I like the G27 better. The Clubsport pedals are definitely better than the Logitech ones, but man, they are expensive.

Is it possible to hook up the clubsport pedals to my G27? I love my wheel and shifter and I don' know if I want to go with the Fanatec. I just don't understand why they only make them to look like a Porsche wheel.

To the OP I have owned a DFGT and a G27 and I like my G27 so I can't speak for the Fanatec.

Well i figured the fanatec wheels were high end because they're insanely expensive compared to others and as far as I know they're not distributed to any retail stores.

Yes, on a PC, but not on the PS3.

LOL, I'm the opposite. I own a G27 and PWTS and I'd recommend the PWTS over the G27 every day of the week. G27 is a very nice wheel I just feel the Fanatec is better and the Clubsport pedals are definitely a step and a half above anything that comes packaged with any wheel. Then that's why they don't come "packaged" with any wheel. lol and are pricey. But to be honest, with the gouge pricing that's going on with the G27 online these days you really are getting a better deal going the Fanatec way.

I agree. Yet I like the G27 pedals just as much as CSP with the nixim brake mod. I prefer the G27 curved pedals over CSP flat ones.
