High Ping...

Hi there, as I wrote in another thread, I've been having some problems online playing RACE 07. I have now determined the cause to be High Ping. It's says I'm at 5000 on the game but when I did a ping test, I was at 49 m/s. What could be the cause of this inconsistency and how can I solve it? Whenever I load the game again, it goes straight back up to 5000 m/s again. Help would be greatly appreciated as I cannot join lobbies and yet I am able to host them.

Is the server local?
Is the game downloading content in the background
Are you getting packet loss?

Shot in the dark here but could it be NAT/port forwarding? Do Race07 hosts use a specific port?

Do a Trace Route on the server address if you know it.
