hi there.

i have a q for all the drivers using wheels and no driving assists (besides abs set to 1).

i have a huge problem on the high speed corners on the top gear test track using lotus elise r111.
even though im trying to minimise the steering input i cant even go as fast as the ai without spinning out, or at least breaking traction and having to counter steer. the followtrough and the one before it is the corner im talking about.

the second corner that gives me a headache is the first one. i have to start braking way faster in order not to break traction on the rear tyres.
ive watched the replay of the ai drivers and they can break a lot later and harder without any problems.
is it a problem with the brake balance? and if so how can i change the settings in the special challegne mode?
any help would be welcome.

Yes, you can use the RA function adjust to quickly change your brake balance to 8/2 . That I what I did, and honestly for that challenge I went with an ABS level of 3.

You only have your driving options that's all you got but it comes down how you control the car.

Make sure to lift off the brake slowly and smoothly. If you take your foot off too fast, the front of the car pops up into the air which causes the weight to transfer too much and changes your grip level dramatically.

When on the brakes, give it a little gas at the same time. Keeps it stable.

Beat me to it. This is a little known technique that helps stabilize oversteery cars or situations that cause oversteer. You can use a bit of throttle even while on the brakes. It takes some practice to get it just right but it really comes in handy with some cars.

@hall90
yeah i know that and thats why im asking and trying to get better;)

edit:
where did my longer post go?

thanks for the replies

@jgancherjr
sholdnt it be the other way around? if i put all the braking force to the front wouldnt the weight transfer be even more dramatic, causing even more oversteer?
i also dont fully understand the numbers behind the settings - is there a way to show percenage of the braking force going into the front and rear?

@hall90
yeah thats right but shouldnt the low hp, high grip lotus be able to fly through the followthrough with full throttle?

@carracerptp, Johnnypenso
do u guys mean left foot braking? might be a bit hard cos im driving clutch manual on the g27, but maybe after another 100 laps...

Prz, please find your Shift key, proper grammar is expected, to the best of your ability:

AUP
You will not use “textspeak” (“r”, “u”, “plz”, etc.) in your messages. Decent grammar is expected at all times, including proper usage of capital letters.

@Gravitron
Noted. However english isn't my native language, so I can't promise I won't make any grammar mistakes.

👍 Just try your best.

My problem was that the brakes were locking up when braking while cornering throwing me into oversteer. That's why I made the adjustments I made.

Having high front/low rear brakes helps to stabilize cars on entry and does help with oversteer in GT5. Unfortunately there are no percentages, just absolute numbers.

Sorry about the left foot braking, yes that's what I'm referring to. I use the paddle shifters and left foot braking for any serious time attack. Using the clutch I'm not sure what you can do with regard to a little trailing throttle. When you hit the brakes and disengage the throttle on a car like the Elise it throws it into even dramatic oversteer, especially when turning and slightly off camber on hard tires. Even adding a bit of throttle is just a slight aid.

@jgancherjr
Hey man thanks for the input. Could you tell me if something should show up on the screen when changing these settings? I've assigned the RA functions to my wheel buttons, but it seems not to work at all...
It might be easy to do, but im new to GT5 and PS3, and don't really know whats wrong.

@Johnnypenso
I have tried heel&toeing and it also helps a lot with stabilising the rear end. The problem is I have stopped using it for GT5 in the first place, because of the often mis-shifts. But I think/hope with a bit more practise i will be able to heel&toe in GT5 without mis-shifting.

Once again thank you for your help:)
