Highlighted names before entering online race

Hi guys

I've been playign GT5P for the last week and soemthing is puzzling me.

When you enter an online race and get to the list of drivers whilst the track is loading I sometimes see one or two drivers whos name are highlighted in a brighter white thean the others.

My own name has been highlighted a couple of times but not always or consistantly. Sometimes no names at all are highlighted and the names that are can be anywhere in the list.

Does anyone know what the highlight means ?
 
In short, I don't know but would like to.

Only correlation I've noticed is that these people with white names have usually been in the previous race with me. But this doesn't always lead to people being highlighted white on the other hand.
 
Yeah i'm puzzled by that, I initially thought it was something wrong with my TV.

I'm not so sure, sometimes I see two names brighter than the rest and its not possible to have two hosts in my opinion. I always thought the host is the first name on the starting grid session before being randomized. Unfortunately the way I test it is when that person on top of the starting grid makes a mistake and pauses on the map and quits, if you quit as a result he was the host. And its usually always the case. :grumpy:
 
Maybe they are experienced players?
As well, did you check what cars they drive? Maybe lets say these people have the same cars are a team?
 
i hosted my first race today, my bandwidth only allows 3 people to race. i prefer it with less people 6 or less is fine.

Don't think that is the case as I've seen multiple highlighted names in a single race.

I think the highlighted names means the current car they are using for the race is the car where they achieve the best lap times with for that circuit.

I can't confirm that and I can be totally wrong.
 
isnt it the fact that the names who are highlighted are driving the same car??...
its just a thought,i might be way off here...

Ah right, I've never seen more than one name highlighted at a time and the host being the name at the top makes more sense.

It's just that I remember reading somewhere before that the highlighted name meant that person was the host, that must've been wrong then.

Yes it was before the update. But seems like pretty much the same problem
 
Lets hope it's something else otherwise thats a little sloppy on PD's part.

Hey hows it going everyone, just thought I would give my two pennies worth, this has happened me a few of times (my name highlighted in white) and each time it was when I won the previous race I entered.

This may be a coincidence, but thats my observations.
 
the name is like that because that car is the worst 1 there and witch if you look they will start at the frunt look at there car and PP points and you should see that they are lower then all the rest :)

p.s sorry for the spelling not a stong point of mine
