Historic racing car cup, can't enter...

Alright, I got that "1970 Ford Mustang Trans-Cammer", And I'd like to use it to beat the cup, but the game doesn't like the idea...

First question : Why can't a 1970 car not race in a 1979 and earlier cup?
Second question : What did you use to beat the cup?
 
I can't answer the first question but my brother beat the Historic cup in a fully tuned Kuntauch(spelling?). I know its a prize car from one of the events I just forgot which one.
 
Ferrari 512BB fully upgraded (passion project). Very satisfying to drive with soft racing tyres :)

My B-spec driver didn't seem to mind driving the car either..

That is because it is a recent Sema winner so the car's year is updated to the year it won.
 
Certain cars such as my Shelby Cobra Collectors Edition are also not a valid entry.
