Deadline - 12midnight GMT Sunday 27th Nov.

I can tenatively say I can't make the deadline, as I work both tomorrow and Sunday.

Shelby: 4th by 52 sec. Never had a chance in this race. It was long enough that I would've had to pit despite the mandatory requirement but not long enough to require the competition to pit. Even if the AI would've pitted they still would've won anyway...they had that much of a lead. I was ahead at lap 10 when I pitted.

BMW: 3rd by 14 sec. But only 2 sec ahead of 4th (a Subaru Legacy wagon). Opened up a 9 sec lead over the Mazda RX7 Infiniti and Nissan 240SX (eventual 1st & 2nd). But once their tires warmed up they were amazing. The Legacy was never more than about 2 sec back. Again I was ahead on lap 10 when I pitted. But the RX7 was a close 3rd and passed the Legacy around the start/finish line. The Legacy came out of the pits ahead of me and I had to race my tail off to catch and pass him.

The BMW was 1'21.849 slower than the Shelby...so the Shelby would've lapped the BMW. Quite different from last week's event where the competitors were much closer.

...Yeah... I've got a couple free minutes here. But not enough to run the race. Can I turn in my time on Monday?

We debuted a nice new yellow Camaro this round in search of extra speed. While it's competitiveness is yet to be seen it was very consistent with lap times and seems to be an improvement over the old red car.
After a few laps for a shakedown and practice we started the race. I finished last 52 seconds behind the winner. I don't know how competitive my lap times were compared to others but I was reasonably happy with my consistency this time. I had a great battle with an NSX and Concept RX8 in the first handful of laps until my tyres started giving up. I was quicker than them around the back section but any advantage I picked up there I lost on the straight where I ran out of revs at 207kph. I just dropped off them a bit in the laps leading up to my pitstop on lap ten and came back out 42 seconds behind the leader.
I thought that in clean air I might have been able to run smoother and hopefully quicker. I may have been correct as this is where I set my fastest lap but I was also hoping that being by myself and not dicing for position I might have got a bit of extra life out of the tyres. This does not appear to have been the case as they stretched their lead before the finish. The race was won by the NSX who was a very dirty driver on the opening lap. He was in my drivers side (had to think about that) door twice on the first lap and put the new Camaro sideways with a hefty nudge in the back at the left hander before the tunnel. He kept up with that driving style with the RX8 and went on to win the race.

As long as i get it on Monday. I'll post results on Tues morning (GMT) if that ok with everyone? - i've only got five so far - Schrodes plus 2 from both goixoye and myself.

Had a bit of practise at GVE this time - it seemed to pay off nicely, for the Alfa at least. My run with the Alfa was pretty faultless. I had the A.I. at level 7 which seemed ideal for 'racing'. I gained the lead from the 1st place RX8 on lap 3, pulled a gap of 2-3 seconds before their tyres warmed and they began to reel me back in. Swapped the lead with the RX8 over and over again until lap 10 when i pitted. I thought that would be it, the A.I. cars would not have to pit - i was wrong. The last place car (Mazda 6) pitted the following lap, and the rest pitted between laps 12 and 18. The 1st place RX8 eventully pitted on 18, coming out of the pits about 200 meters or so in front of me. For the next lap and a half i slowly reeled him in before passing him under braking (he had to brake, i didn't) coming out of the tunnel before the right hander. The best 'race' i've had against an A.I car for some time.
The Alfa really suited this track - the gearing was spot-on.

Unlike the Cougar i ran next...

Although the Cougar was 4 seconds a lap quicker than the Alfa, it didn't feel that way - i was braking at places where the Alfa was flat out and the Cougar was hitting the limiter just on the start/finish line at around 122mph! - not great when your A.I competition include a DB7, V8 Esprit, Audi RS6 and Jag XKR!.
By the end of lap one i'd got upto 3rd with the Aston, Lotus and Audi behind me. I managed to keep it this way for 3 to 4 laps when their tyres warmed and the Aston and Lotus re-passed me. The Audi was too slow to give me any hassle so i ended racing myself most of the race. I pitted on lap 10, although my tyres were not too bad. Only the Audi pitted out of the A.I. cars and i eventually finished 5th. To my supprise i found the 1st placed Jag in my mirrors on the final lap - i was almost lapped! Still, i managed some consistant lap times.

I was going to give the Bluebird a spin but we had our Christmas party on the weekend and spent the night away and didn't get home until late on Sunday. Maybe next round.

5 rounds completed + 3 to go = 8 rounds? The original thread indicates 6 rounds?

Congratulations again Fox. You too Cracker...slipped the Cougar in ahead of the Shelby this week. Wow! really close racing between the Camaro's...2s divided by 20 laps = 0.1s per lap difference.

Ooopps! - my mistake - 1 round to go!

I was chuffed to get 2nd place, even if it was Cracker mk2. Beating your BMW with the Alfa was also quite an achievement, like i said in one of the above posts, the Alfa's gearing couldn't have been better suited to GVEast. There was only 4 points on the track where i had to brake and 3 where a lift was required, the Cougar had to brake 7 times per lap and i never felt like i really got a really quick lap out of it.

Thanks Gioxoye for the congrats.

Sorry all for no pics this week, barely had the time to just run the race.

I think the Cuda needs a parachute.
I'm on 69 points. Cool. My favourite number.

Maybe you should forfeit (spelling?) this last race so you can keep that number. That way I won't have to worry about how close you are in the points.

I'll take a good look at the Cuda tonight and see if it really does have such an advantage over the Camaro and Shelby. Redline Fox has already submitted his times for round six already, i presume because he won't have time to do it latter? in which case i might just add a lap time penalty (1 second per lap or something) to his overall time, based on my findings tonight.

Do you all think this sounds fair?

Personally, I think implementing a penalty after he's already submitted his time is wrong. The time to initiate the penalty would be with the announcement of the event. He'll likely beat the crap out of us again but I've become accustomed to it as it seems that the 'Cuda is by far the best car in the bunch. Basically the rest of us are racing for places 2 through whatever. Even with the proposed penalty he'll finish the season well ahead of the rest of us.

I used the 'Cuda for testing this week (this morning actually). I haven't run the BMW or Shelby yet so I have no idea how competitive they are compared to the 'Cuda. I'll PM you my times so you have some additional figures to work with.

I ran the event with the reward weight which I thought was to help even things out. I really do not see why I should be given a 1 second a lap penalty just because I submitted an early time.

Its also near the end of the series if you wanted to enforce a hefty penatly on me, more weight could have been added to my car or HP taken out sooner. :indiff:

I've tried to be co-operative and easy going about making sure I'm not running a huge unfair advantage with the car and I have'nt gloated about being in front.

Any 'penalties' that might have been given to you (retrospectively) would only have been awarded with your full co-operation. It was only suggested because you'd been open to penalties in the past. You do fully deserve to win the championship - and probably will. No one, me included, want to turn this last round into a farce, thsee suggestions were only there to try to make the final round a closer one.

I hope the suggestions don't cause any hard feelings.

I'm not pissed or anything, but I would have been more then happy to help work out a some better regs for the cars or done some more testing to make competition more level. I just have to be asked directly most of the time.

I don't think Redline Fox should get a penalty after his time has been submitted or even a penalty this late in the season. He has done a good job and deserves the championship.

I wouldn't be worried about how close our points are goixoye. I'm pretty crap at Laguna Seca. I like the track but I'm just not very quick there. I've got each corner there perfect at some stage or another since it was in GT but I can't get all the corners right on the same lap. It's not even the Corkscrew I have the most problems at, it seems to be the two rights and two lefts before the Corkscrew where I have the most problems.

In the latest version of Laguna Seca, which was totally re-mapped for GT4, i can't get this section 'nailed' either, which is weird since it was my favourite section in previous versions. The left hander after the corkscrew is totally different now too. It's another corner i never seem to be able to get right. Infact, now i think about it, In previous versions of LS, every corner except the first hairpin corner, that i felt i could do well are now the corners that i can't hook up correctly and the corners that i couldn't do very well before - now seem easy!?!
Lagunas now become one of my least favourite circuits where as before it was a favourite.

Oh, Redline Fox, by popular demand will not be receiving any penalty for the next round.
