The ultimate version of Gran Turismo, could include a Historical Racing section. Divided into Decades, with only the cars, tracks, layouts, of that era included.

I know they've already done something like this for 80's and 90's, but think it would be really cool doing some thing iro earlier decades.

F1 at Brands Hatch in the late 1940's with straw bales !!!

The idea reminds me of the old Lightning Challenges from the NASCAR Thunder games. Those were always super fun.

I think this would be a great idea for inclusion in future GT games, perhaps with an option to also simulate the rest of the race weekend when possible.

I like this idea a lot! British tracks such as Silverstone (the International layout) tended to use oil drums to mark the edge of the track, Le Mans used sand banks (drivers carried a spade to dig themselves out). American circuits often used tyres half buried and painted white to mark the track edge. Straw bales were used at street circuits such as Monaco.

It would be realistic to start with the 1950's, which is when international competition really took off again, but we would need some extra cars - Jaguar C type and D type, Mercedes Benz 300SLR, Aston Martin DBR1 and Lagonda V12, Maserati 300S, Ferrari, Lancia and Cunningham - at the moment we haven't got any 1950's Le Mans cars which is a sad omission.

The 1960's would require a few extra cars such as the Ford GT40 Mark 2 7 litre, Lola Aston Martin T70 and Ferrari 250 LM.

Basher's idea might also get PD to think logically about how to build the historic car list rather than the seemingly random scatter gun approach we have now - for instance thanks for the Ferrari 250 GTO, but where is the Lightweight E Type and Cobra 289 which raced against it?
