holy crap on a cracker, what happened to bob?

We've all had our share of fun with our beloved b-tards dragging them
kicking and screaming into the next level, gazing speechless upon their
professional display of pure and utter retardation, bringing controllers and
wheels to the limits of their physical existence.

But - and this is not easy for me to say - my very own bob in his stylish yet
functional black-and-grey racing suit is now reaching for level 21, coming of
age if you will and Things Are Happening.
After beating him into winning me the Minolta Toyota, I locked him into the
same and dropped him into the next few races, unattended, to learn the hard way.
And behold … he suddenly knows how to drive. He doesn't slow down
to a crawl when leading. He can overtake the slower AIs. He can take
corners without spinning into the walls. I even saw him pressuring
the leading Bentley race car into an error on the Nürburgring.

Bob, you tested my patience and self control, but from henceforth
you shall be known as Captain Awesome.

(We'll see if he can deliver in the challenges to come, but for now he's doing all right. I think the boy'll make something of himself after all.)

I've had some fun with bob (and his other brother bob). I'm still only like level 8 or 9 so I was running the Japanese 90's challenge. Bob had won Tsukuba easily in an almost stock Mitsubishi GT.


So I took his other brother bob who is lower level but better at turns and let him loose on Cape Ring and he was less than stellar. On one of the hairpins he would slow down then for who knows what reason would accelerate straight into the wall. But after that he would start running people down.

So at the start of lap 6 of 7 he decides to drive through the pits or gets rammed into the pits I have no idea and leaves in 11th but starts like normal starts catching up and after that lap is pushing 5th when he crashes again at the start of lap 7. I've long since given up but not bob, he decides now is a good time to drive and soon he is passing people and is in third coming up to the final corner when the 2 leaders (who must be his other cousin bob's) crash each other and my bob drives around them for the win.

I was fully prepared to power up the car and rerun the race but victory from the jaws of defeat. was entertaining enough I saved the replay.

When you get to the 24 hour races, leave "Race Strategy" set to OFF. Had them on 10%, after 9 hours they were 3 laps down, in 6th place, and pitting every lap! They never had time to replenish energy. Set it to OFF and Racing Soft tires, 10 hours later they were 8 or so laps up on 2nd.

If there is rain, they are REALLY stupid!!! They leave racing tires on! If I tell them to use rain tires, the pit on the following lap. They must enjoy crashing and riding through sand!

3 drivers only can be used in 24 hrs of Le Mans.

He always puts on a show when I give him my RM '69 Camaro, throws it around like he's some kind of drift god

There have been some golden moments where they suddenly begin to race properly. It is like an on/off switch. Unfortunately it does not last, and happens way to rarely

I had it happen once on Nurburgring GP where Mr. Bean refused to do anything sane for like half the race. Then suddenly he clicked, found a rhythm, started carrying speed into corners and out of them, smooth and fast, passed 4 opponents in one lap and ended winning.

And forgot it all in the next race.

If your Bob remembers, you are lucky!

For that you have to sit there and just keep pressing Pace Up/Overtake for the whole race at least that's what I had to do for him to win.

I found a 'trick'. On the Daytona truck race (where there's no need to touch the brake, but bob always does), take the brakes off the truck. Turn the brake balance controller down as far as possible, then whip the heck out of bob on the radio...that's how I got mine to eventually win.

My main Bob's idiot cousin Bob (G Berger) seems to have an affinity for walls. That hairpin at the top of the Madrid circuit is his nemesis. He totally trashed the front of my R8 5,2 there on a succession of wall banging laps. I got wise to him though. I told him to slow down when he got to that corner and the damage (there at any rate) stopped.

Another of my drivers, poor departed Bob (I decided it was time to employ his hot headed relation) also had a real issue with that corner. Admittedly it was only on about the last lap of a race which he was leading. After half a minute of sheer comedy collecting the barrier on the same side, and occasionally both sides of the road, as he went back and forth, he managed to finally get the car pointing in vaguely the right direction and was able to escape the corner and drive to victory... just!

Admittedly my recently "hatched" Bobs (to replace some decidedly average cool ones) have been dropped in at the deep end with some high power machinery in higher level races (I replaced most of my Bobs at around Lv 20) admittedly those were my tuned R8 5.2, tuned Minolta Toyota or Formula GT which had to race on other than slicks in most cases and my Bobs (mostly) were able to cope. Some aerodynamic aids may help a little if they can be fitted. On some tracks using powerful machinery Bobs do have a tendency to spin out at the same place each lap (Cape Ring for instance and also the 'Ring). Cote d'Azur can be a problem with barriers but you won't have to worry about that circuit for a while.

I rotate my Bob's every hour and a half or so in Deream Car Championship unassisted....bring me 1M cr a pop 5 or 6 times a day...

Then I go spend it at the UCD....

thanks. i have all aero modds on, and i find it so easy to drive. i hope bob knows how to be....modest with the throttle...to say the least.

Glad it's not just me. Was in the Supercar Nostalgia race and bob uncorked a lap at Laguna Seca 2 seconds lower than any he had done in the past 18 laps and went on to win. Felt like a proud dad until I took the same car and lopped about 8 seconds off that time.

the problems with your b-spec drivers are usually two-fold.

1) more often than not, folk put them in cars that're entirely too powerful for their skill level.
a level 10 b-spec driver ain't got a clue how to handle a lvl 18 SuperGT car.

2) more often than not, you're using Sport Tires on cars with more horsepower than than the Cell Broadband Engine. power that Sport Tires clearly can't contain.

by and large, you should think of your b-spec racer as a guy climbing his way through the ranks of real-world racing, with the starting point in their careers being akin to a teenager whose dream is to be a race car driver. few, if any, people jump directly into a Group C car and are competitive. a driver has to work their way up to that point.

He seems to enjoy ramming into the backs of cars for no reason at all, and moreso he likes to brakecheck people behind him, forcing them to uh, slam into him. I've tried therapy, in the form of keeping him between cool and hotheaded, but that just makes him content to be passed unless he's in a super Saleen S7 against Fiat 500's.

We need a 5th radio option "Slam" where upon entering a corner, Bobbo just T-bones whatever poor shmo happens to be ahead of him. Kind of like what we have to do in the Bonus events. I would love to do that in the Toyota 7 against that damn 2J.

Don't think that's the problem...

1) Bob can usually figure out a way to powerslide and/or spin anything. At level 11-12, my Bob still had significant trouble with a '97 NSX, which I think is a level 5 car. Also doesn't explain how people have trouble when Bob is level 20+

2) Most of the races, at least through the Amateur level, require the car to have Sports Hard tires. It's tough to find a car fast enough to beat say, a Miura or a Countach, that Bob won't have sliding all over the place. So sometimes it's a catch-22: a car that Bob won't drift around is too slow to beat the other cars...

using my Lvl 0 BOB on Like The Wind with my F1 and so far so good... i guess this is the best way for my Lvl 0 BOB to level... oh and yea Father BOB and uncle BOB seems they like walls also...

just finish the race and Baby BOB is on Lvl 7...

I think your R. Bobby must be related to my Bob. Mine is at level 23 and he seems to still have little interest in overtaking anyone in front of him unless I constantly tell him to. He is a follower, in the turns, on the straights, he just brakes and follows, unless like you say he is in the formula car and they are in a fiat.

How cool would it be if you could watch the guys race before you choose one, like in the real world and stuff My guy was definitly a wannabe driver, certainly would never have been hired in the real world.

Dude i put my bob in his latest race the tuner series, and Bob and that s2k went at the hole race. He was in a s2k himself but my god i didn't knew bob had it in him. lap 1 was the most intense after he rocket to first out of no where to then get pushed off the track
