Current Setup
PS4 hdmi output >>>> STR-DN1040 hdmi input, STR-DN1040 hdmi output >>>> KDL45R473A hdmi input
also
PS3 hdmi output >>>> STR-KS2000 hdmi input, STR-KS2000 hdmi output >>>> KDL40W5500 hdmi input


Two pretty nice setups imo...
but
I would like to connect them somehow (hdmi?) with an aim of sitting at either theatre and having the choice of console.
It seemed simple to begin with but I would appreciate any advice to get it perfect.

Seems you would need a HDMI switch coming out of each console that would allow you to route the consoles output to the desired Receiver.

Something like this for example.
