Okay dokey, i baugt gt5 *love it*, played gt4 for the past 3 years or so, always wanted to build a cockpit, now i have the means to do it. So is there any methods out there?
Here are some constraints.
-I have the logitec gt somthing wheel (the one with the sequential shifter)
-I'd like to make it out of wood, PVC, etc. just not somthing i have to weld, or if so only a little
-i'd like to spend less then $50ish, but going over is fine.
-id like it to be slanted, like many of the ones i've seen on here.
-Also, i'd like there to be an 'inclosed' feel per se, like one i saw that was made from metal- that looked great.
any hoo
thanks

Wood would probably be more feasible than PVC unless you used some beefy PVC.

The major aspects of a cockpit are
-racing seat
-attachments for pedals and wheel
-stand and mount for screen
-possibly speaker mounts

It will probably take some trial and error but you should be able to obtain some measurements using your personal car to get the correct distance and height of the wheel and position of the screen so that you are comfortable.

To mount the screen you can get a generic visa mount or just use an existing table.

You probably aren't going to do it for under $50 and in wood or PVC it won't be as nice as a pre-made one.

But I agree it would be awesome.

If you're cool with not using a racing seat then you can prolly pull it off for $50.
You also don't necessarily need the stand and mount for your tv either, that is if you're ok with just setting up your cockpit in front of the tv (my suggestion, make it light enough to put away somewhere).
Just an idea for the seat, you can patrol craigslist or trader forums and look for a good quality Del Sol or MR2 seat (very comfy and sporty:) I've had both) which will run you a heck of alot less than a Sparco or Recaro seat. Not to mention be much nicer than a wood bench with a pillow on it (my friends "cockpit":dopey:)
Best of luck!
