Well, while waiting for GT5 to arrive I decided to make myself an homemade wheel stand for my GTDFPro. The space in my living room is very limited so no building car cockpit for me ... bummer.
So I decided to make a stand out of wood. Everything is stuff that was lying around so the the total cost of this project was 0$ to me. :)
I don't know what it would cost to buy all items in a hardware store. I'll have to check it out.
It's my first time doing something like this and I am no pro.

Here it is !
this is the stand mode, I decided to put some little legs if someone wants to sit on a kitchen chair.

Here I simply attach the little legs where they rest and I put it in LAP mode.

It fits neatly on ur lap while in a comfy chair or couch.
Just like this

Added some weight on the front to keep things balanced

If you ever need to get up to grab a beer or have another shot of alcohol, I decided to make it go forward

I made some stops so it doesn't fall when in need of beer

Here it is, without the driving wheel attached to it. Ready for storage and the thing folds in two. So easy to put in a closet.

I want to keep the wood look, so I will put a couple of coating of varnish to give it that wooden shiny look.
Also I want to fix all that loose wiring hanging all over the stand, i'll find a solution for that.

Well this sums it up.
It's a perfect build for my needs. Keeping in mind 'small living room' and 'low cost' with a 'lots of configurations', 'easy to move' to bring it at a friends house to play GT5. I'm happy with it.

I can't wait for GT5 to arrive in the mail so I can get busy with the game and this stand. Tried it with GT4 and works like a charm. Sturdy, greener for the environement, and built to last.

Well let me know how you find it and if you have comments on how to improve it, I will be glad to accept them :)

Cya in GT5 online y'all :)

Welcome to GTP, Beaudz.

Large pictures are nice for showing detail, but huge pictures are difficult to view on smaller screens. If you can, either resize them down a bit (800x600, for example, is still a decent size) or use imageshack's thumbnail links. :)

And I'm digging beer mode!👍

Seeing your build mate, has just reminded me of a "coffee stained" table out in my garage that I might just be able to mod into something similar to this. I'm loving the ideas of the weights to balance it out and the stoppers to allow it to stand vertical, and as (Im sure the main purpose of it) to save space.

I will definatly be refrencing this. Do you have the dimensions you used as all or was it at the time ideas?

cool !! it's nice that it gave you an idea how to mod ur table. Yup it's to save space and build something that would last me a life time. Also in the looks department, wood never gets old. ;)

About the dimensions, I did it on the spot. I had the idea and just made it.
Have fun with ur project mate ! 👍

I updated the stand with a few more tweaks and adjustments. Now it's a freaking awesome stand for my DFPro. Built to last a lifetime.
I sometime use it for my pc gaming, perfect for a keyboard and mouse table. :)

still stable and still going strong, with a few more mods during the first build to make it even better :)
