Honda is the microsoft of the transportation industy. They make cars, planes, scooters, motorcycles, lawnmowers boat engines...now all they need is a submarine and a space craft and they make everything you would ever need to go anywhere.

Not only do they produce such a wide range of products, but they do a really good job too. I believe they had four of the top ten cars for 2003 in Car and Driver's article. And the Accord has been in several top ten lists nearly every year for the past twenty years.

I'm a little apprehensive about this. It was getting into the jet business that nearly killed Rolls Royce. Let's hope Honda fares better.

On the other hand, Mitsubishi has a long history of making great jets, both original and under license, so maybe Honda will fare well.

Now there's a company that has its fingers stiring all the pots. Mitsubishi - everything from cars to mainframe computers. And Yamaha too. Musical equipment and snow-mobiles. The Japanese companies are major congolmo-corps. "We Own You" has never been so extreme.

Daewoo make (made?) container ships. I've seen a Daewoo computer system for sale once too.

Subaru is owned by Fuji Heavy Industries... They make everything from cranes to cameras...!

Very well put. It made me realise how diverse all the major Japanese corporations are. Very good business sense, since if one branch of their production fails for some reason, they have lots to fall back on.

jet engines are measured by thrust, so like 25,000 lbs of thrust would be an example.
