Honda Civic Type-R Mugen

Yeah, it's a bit mad. Almost double the standard Type R...

I can't help feeling that this car has been talked about before on GTP though... I certainly know I posted pics of it in the imports thread a number of months back...

A bit pricey true, but I love it! Miss the hatch look over here in the states, but of course we'll never get this car.:grumpy::(:D

Too expensive. For that money I'd like to have the NSX-R engine in the Civic. Well, and 4WD or RWD since 300+hp is too much for FWD

 38k pounds? Are you SERIOUS?! Awsome car but seriously, that's way too much money.

I know that the Civic is expensive but do you know how much it actually costs to make?

Why Mugen are only making 20 these new Civics...

The apparent reason is that each of these tuned 240bhp Type R cost about £190,000 to build, netting Mugen a £150,000 loss for every example sold. The 20 are expected to be snapped up instantly because of this bargain opportunity. So it is a loss leading marketing exercise for future business in Europe, tuning parts etc.

I still dont see where the money is, i can accept the engine and tweaked parts might cost £10k, which would take the price over a normal type R to about the price they are asking. But i doubt they have spent £3,800,000 on making these 20 cars.

Since when did Honda adopt Acura styling? ... Oh wait.

Maybe if they used off the shelf parts but with the stuff made from scratch for this specific car + development etc your not even close to £10k.

Then you have aero parts + research & development + wind tunnel testing etc.

This is true.

BUT being a Honda, it will never break... so you'd only need 1!

Also, I'm pretty sure it'd knock the wind out of you on every bump on the road with that suspension

From the tests I've read it apparently does, though there's probably not a lot that can touch it around a track. Save for perhaps the JDM Mugen Civic RR...

I'm sure there will be people who won't have a problem shelling out 38,000 pounds for a hatchback that'll probably be a collectors thing later down the road.

If somebody made a GTI that was a little more hard core with a body kit and such, but only 20 would be made at $60k each, I'd be first in line, provided I had the money. Completely unwise purchase, but you can't go wrong with the infinite awesome.
