[As always, if anyone would like to volunteer to take a picture, it will go here :)]
Thank you very much for the picture, viperin!

Race Specifics

  • Arcade Mode Time Trial - hotlap
  • Power: +20% (291 HP)
  • Weight: -10% (1134 kg)
  • Tire Type: N2
  • Driving aids and transmission mode are open.
  • Standard OLR cleanliness rules apply: Two wheels must be in contact with the track at all times; rumble strips and tarmac behind white lines are part of the track; no contact with walls allowed at any time.
  • Please PM me your final time by Tuesday October 6 by 11:59 pm GMT (world clock).

Series Information and General Rules

  • All six races will be run in Arcade Mode and each will last one week, with a submission deadline of Tuesday at 11:59 PM GMT.
  • The cars used will be a variety of Hondas, mostly road cars on standard (N) tires, but with race cars appearing as well. Make sure you have all Hondas, used and new, unlocked in Arcade Mode, because few of the cars I will use are available from the beginning.
  • Standard OLR cleanliness rules apply: Two wheels must be in contact with the track at all times; rumble strips are part of the track; no contact with walls allowed at any time.
  • Discussion of times in the race thread during the week will be limited to split times (T1, T2). Lap times are not to be discussed and must be submitted to me by PM before the week's deadline.
  • Please save your best lap replay just in case I request proof, which is unlikely but possible. Generally, no proof will be necessary for the winner or for anyone else; however, I reserve the right to request a photo of a time if I am suspicious of it.
  • Each race will award points towards the overall championship standings to all who submit a clean lap/race time, with the winner receiving 10 points, second place 8, third place 6, and fourth on down each separated by 1 point (5, 4, 3, etc.). No points will be awarded to a non-submitting driver. You do not have to announce your participation in the championship beforehand: anyone may participate in a race and be counted into the championship points, even if you do not plan on running all the races; similarly, there is no obligation to participate in every race. The driver with the most points at the end of the six races will win the championship.

Ever since I did license test IA-6, I've been convinced that this car and this track are made for each other. The tires don't have a huge amount of grip, but pushing them to their limits isn't necessarily the best way around the track: you can choose to push hard and "drift" the car a bit, or you can aim for smoothness and not exceed the limits of grip. You'll have to decide which way is faster for you, as well as which way is more fun. Please note that I have for a change, given the car a boost in power, and that this time, you must use the '00 Type V, not any other S2000, because all of the models actually are significantly different from each other. As always, have fun. 👍

I saw this coming, the S2K.   👍 👍

The lap whose splits I have up right now came out of nowhere; in my fourth lap in a session last night, it was half a second faster than any I had achieved in quite a bit of testing (because I couldn't keep myself from pushing for a still-better time - I find it addicting :dopey:). It certainly has some flaws, but I seemed to generally find the balance between pushing hard and taking it easy: I did use the "drifting" technique, but without being overly aggressive, because that saps acceleration. One of the reasons I kept the N2 tires with increased power is that it allows you to "drift" the whole way around the long corner before T2 with almost no effort, as the car does it all completely naturally. I'm not actually sure I'll improve my time, but I will definitely keep trying. 👍

I hope you dont inprove your time. I don some laps but got carried away with the drifting so I will post some times tomorrow. this is a cool one:tup:

First Splits:
29.093 1'07.611

Got a little crazy with the drifting in the beginning (think Drift King), but I finally got the hang of it once I toned it down. Awesome combo!

As we like to say, the alien has landed. The only hope any of us have at victory now is that he has been away from GT4 for long enough to have become rusty, but I think that's unlikely - an alien doesn't become less alienlike with time!

I'm glad you all are enjoying this. I definitely worried that the N2s might make the combo disagreeable for some, considering that S2s on this car at this track are still fun, although in a somewhat different way. But when you take into account their limits of grip, they really do suit the car and track beautifully, IMO, and not by any of my doing with the selection of the combo. 👍

G'Day all,
I agree it is a nice selection, the Honda has remarkable grip on N2's.
Just a matter of finding the right balance of "classic line" racing and drifting.
Not quite there yet but have manged -
T1 - 29.880
T2 - 1 ' 08 . 282

Welcome Mark, I hope your tough outing at Suzuka does not affect your efforts here.

I notice there is no photo yet so I have sent one to our fearless leader for his perusal.

Later all :)

Greetings from Massachusetts -
Ten laps done and my split times are: T1 29.765 and T2 1.09.040

So you can see that I have not yet tamed the beast!

The Honda S2000 handles much better than my Daihatsu Copen so its a welcome change of pace. However, the extra power does make the back end step out too easily. And I would rather be on N3 tires.

Love these "normal cars". You can drive them a way you would never do in real life. You might try. But don't tell your insurance agent you're doing it unless you can afford the rate hike.

30.740 - 1'10.297

silly me I was using the 03'V so I dont think ill get the 00'v in time so I wish you guys all the best for the race:tup:

.........

My insurance agent thinks that I only drive my WRX to church on Sunday's, and its normal to replace tires every 3 months.

Congratulations to InsaneRacer and MadMax86 for impressive podium times, and to the very same two drivers for their podium placements in the standings. 👍 Of course, thanks to everyone for participating, and for sticking with my often ridiculous ideas about what makes a good combo. I hope you all enjoyed at least some of the races. :)

As usual, I have my lap here. When I stopped thinking too hard and pushing too hard, the lap just sort of flowed naturally, due largely to the fact that this car drifts so easily, so controllably, and, at the risk of repeating myself, so naturally. It certainly isn't the best it could have been, but I was also gone for more than four days this weekend and had little opportunity to perfect it, although I was basically satisfied with it as it was.

Interesting lap there Austin343 👍 👍

And well done InsaneRacer beating my lap  with these splits:

T1 28.850
T2 1'07.100
lap 1'29.405

A little late, but congrats to all the drivers that made it to the finish of this great series. Thanks to Austin for showing love for the hondas. :D 👍
