In 2004, Mugen changed its name into M-TEC after being accused of tax evasion. As starting over, M-TEC converted 2003 GT500 NSX directly into GT300 by detuning. They won only a race, but gaining points constantly, they defeated ARTA Garaiya just by 1 point to become GT300 class champion.

"Mugen changed its name into M-Tec after being accused of tax evasion"??

Sooo, if I change my name, I won't get caught by the gov even if I don't declare my income?
Well, that's....good to know, I guess.

Of course the president of Mugen, Hirotoshi Honda (the eldest son of Soichiro Honda), was arrested in 2003 and sentensed to two years' penal servitude, and the company was fined 240 million yen. Meanwhile, M-TEC was established and "substantially" took place of Mugen (Mugen does exist but in a form of a dummy company just to receive a license fee from M-TEC).

......Sarcasm.

There was a GT300 NSX? Cool.

There were 3 teams in JGTC / Super GT history which used NSX in GT300 class :

1. Verno Tokai Dream28.

Actually this was Honda Verno Tokai Inc., one of Honda dealership in Japan which was the subsidiary of VT Holding. Following company's name change become Honda Cars Tokai Co. Ltd, the team name changed to Cars Tokai Dream28)
This team used Honda NSX GT300 at 2002-2004 season, at 2002-2003 with Yokohama tyres and 2004 with Kumho tyres. At present day, the team is using Lotus Evora Mother Chassis, still competing at GT300 class. VT Holding also has LCI Limited (distributor of Lotus Cars in Japan) as a subsidiary, so this is why it's still makes sense for the team.

2. M-TEC (re-establishment of Mugen Motorsports).

M-TEC used NSX at GT300 at 2004-2005 season. Among all GT300 teams which used NSX, this team was clearly the best one. M-TEC returned to GT300 class at 2012-2014 season with Mugen CR-Z GT Hybrid and clinched 2013 title. At present day, M-TEC returned to GT500 class just like at 1998-2003 season, with car #16 Motul Mugen NSX-GT.

3. Team Bomex Dream28

This team was ran by Bomex Inc., raced NSX at 2006 season. I think this team was the most inferior one to have NSX as its car. The team was no longer competed at Super GT

Let's hope there will be more NSX in GT300 if Honda is ready to race the NSX GT3 at Super GT. Currently NSX GT3s are competing at Pirelli World Challenge (2 cars by RealTime Racing) and IMSA (2 cars by Michael Shank Racing) as a development purpose before Honda is ready to accept customer teams.
