In 2004, Honda stated they were going to use the turbo engine called C30A instead of the long-used NA engine C32B, which they said reached its technologic limit (However in 2005, they decided to use C32B again due to the development difficulty). However, they had not used turbo engine in JGTC until then, so its development was very slow. As a result, they had difficulty catching up with other competitors, but this car, EPSON NSX, won the 5th round held at Twin Ring Motegi and the non-title sprint race at California Speedway (Auto Club Speedway at that time), earning the most points of all the GT500 NSX.

When I saw the 2004 result, I think it was even worse than 2003. If you see footages of 2004 races, you'll see lot of NSX GT500 were often on the back.
