I read that thread based on the naming format and from my understanding it was (manufacturer) (car/model name) (racing series) (category) (racing team/livery name) (car number) then year as you stated.

If you did research on the car you're nominating (as we all should... though not all do) and that's what you've come up with then that's fine; it's not on us to do research on the cars everyone else suggests.

Personally I think that's an entry name rather than a make/model designation, with Honda as the make, Prelude-GT as the model, and HRC as a silly affectation to jam the race team's name in there; it's certainly entered as that, but it wasn't actually called that at any point of development:

If we're trying to have twin makes because Honda makes the Prelude and HRC makes the Prelude-GT* then we're going to run into issues with the Ford Multimatic GT GTE and the Chevrolet Pratt-Miller Corvette GT3.R which I think you'll agree is Very Silly.

Not having seen the homologation plate or documents for it, I couldn't say one way or the other, or the other-other, but I'd be tempted to go for Honda Prelude-GT HRC to match Nissan GT-R Nismo (Toyota, of course, names the actual entire Mk5 Supra line "GR Supra" and will further confuse by making GR its own brand), and to sort this Honda Prelude with all the other Honda Preludes.
