You know, on the subject of the Five Hundred.... why is Ford making such a big deal about FWD? Are they so behind the times that they view it as a big new thing? Or is it just that the car is such a piece that they're scraping to find ANYTHING they can say good about it?
Probably because everyone is making a big deal about it.

How the hell did you reach that conclusion?

I don't get it - you're spot-on 98% of the time, then you throw curveballs like calling an overhyped, underspecced, underpowered piece of trash like the Five Hundred "great." :p

Is it overhyped?

I haven't seen any evidence of overhyping going on. If anything it's being panned universally for being underpowered.

Is it "underspecced"? Can't say I pay attention to the standard features lists as much as you do, so I'm rife with ignorance with repsect to the Five Hundred's equipment.

All I know is it's got lots of interior space, lots of trunk space, drives competently, is well put together, and is over CDN$15,000 less than a Toyota Avalon.

Spec could be better. Honda has all the same stuff standard plus a sunroof and side airbags (of course, since the Five Hundred is American, side airbags are optional. American cars do not have enough safety features. It's not that they're unsafe, but the continuous cost-cutting gets to me). Plus Honda gets better fuel economy with more horsepower. And for all the crap being made about the size of the Five Hundred, the Accord has notably more front head room, notably more front leg room, and just slightly less rear head room. Cargo volume suffers with Accord, but parking's probably easier since it's almost a foot shorter.

Avalons are absolute piss, so I'm not surprised about that.

Ten?! It's almost thirteen. :D

(and it doesn't have any airbags or a sunroof either. In fact, the only "power" amenities are power steering and power brakes. It does have a rear defroster though. OOOOOoooo... AAaaahhh...)

I like how you didn't argue the six zillion miles part.

Did any Cherokees have a factory sunroof? Some of those Limited ones must have around 1999-2001, but I don't recall ever seeing one.

I think so. Im pretty sure my friend's parent's jeep has a sunroof.

Yeah, it's a power sunroof. I even went to go double check to make sure I wasn't fibbin ya. It's either a 96 or a 97 (my friend doesn't remember)

They did, intermittently. I don't think it was standard on any of the trim levels though. Definitely a rare option. I've never seen one in person.

Six zillion is exagerrating. It's more like... three or four zillion... :D

Interesting.

Incidentally, if you actually care enough to find out the year, you could just check the VIN, on the driver's door. It should go 1J4 _ J _ _ S _ T if it's a '96, or, if it's a '97, the T will be a V.

 It wouldn't be funny except that it's true.
