Honda to let S2000 die slowly and painfully like NSX

A good thing is that many of us agree that the Honda S2000 is a great little car. Let me just ask you all something. Do you think Honda is really doing justice in keeping this car around the way it is? Or do you think more can be done to preserve and maintain their only available sports car? Is this S2000 variant more of a hold-me-down car until the Acura ASC deal becomes a production car? Talk to me!

Yeah Spoon Racing actually used that hardtop version for a little time. If they could only mold it into the S2k's body I would feel it would look perfect. ;)

I've been reading the latest(?) Road and Track magazine. There was a such thing as an S2000 with about 260hp. It was the numbers for the very nice Spoon S2000 Road Car based on the Super Taikyu S2000 (and not the Spoon S2000 Race Car PD copied from GT3 into GT4). Don't know if it was a modified engine or the stock engine with enhancements, but there was a such a thing. Maybe the kind folks at Mugen want to make a one-off Spoon S2000 for the 'States?

That's all I wanted to rectify. Keep on keeping on...

While this might not exactly be what you are talking about, I wish more manufacturers keep their "classics" in their lineup. Car like S2000, unless they have the replacement ready to go, they should keep building it as long as possible. Your left brain might tell you that its' numbers are outdated, but your right brain should tell you that numbers aren't everything.

P.S. I also think that Scion is making a mistake replacing their xB. They should just keep adding improvements to that car, build it forever(no jokes please :D).

As I remember from "Sega GT: Homologation Special," here's what I remember in a description about Mugen:

(indirect quote) "Mugen is a Honda tuner, but is purely an independent company..." -Sega GT

So they are more like a VERY close friend of the family (so to speak), but not part OF the family. Regardless, you know what you're getting if you love Honda and Mugen screws up the car any way they like.
