Ok, this just recently came up to me and is important not only for me to emphasize, but I think everyone has a right to let theirs out.

A recent development over a controversy in a threqad in the rumble strip.

I did not fully explain myself and I offended someone and dishonored them.

I do not feel I was doing anything wrong or offending anyone at the time, but I did.

That is not right, in no way, shape, or form. Now the second party in this situation will speak up if he/she wants too.

I am not going to point or single out this person, and if this person wants to make it known then the ball is in your court.

I dishonored myself here and this is how I must make it up.

Everyone in this forum feels pride, you can see it in each other's writings, please bear in mind that if you wrong, make the situation right and that is what I am doing.

Please feel free to post whatever you feel about you own honor/dishonor. Apologies for those events, whatever you may have it dealing with your honor.

Peace -> Miata

Honor....
I think that deliberatley damaging one's honor, either one's self or another, is wrong. Inadvertantly damaging one's honor, either one's self of another, is questionable, sometimes it is excuseable, but most of the time, I believe it is not.

Jokes should be included in this topic: Jokes are not something somebody can hide behind if they hurt somebody's honor. You did the damage, it doesn't matter if it was a joke or your true opinion, or just something you said. It's like taking a gun out and shooting somebody in the head. You didn't mean to, you did, and the consequences lay ahead.

One of the topics that I believe must remain untouched is religion, unless one or a party are discussing the matter in a serious, informable, proper manner of not using insults.
Does this mean there can't be threads about religion(s)? No, it just means don't go bashing Athiests, Muslims, Jews, Buddist, Luthrans, Catholics, etc., even if you have a reason, just don't. If you don't have anything good to say, don't say anything at all.

I don't know if this is gonna work but sometimes the answer is just to simple ,,but here go's ..sticks an stones may break my bones but...you get the idea. Sometimes you just have to trust in the ablility of people to get past the words.

Honor- It's something in your spirit nobody can shake or rattle. Honor is part of your life, and it's another form of pride.

I feel honored to be a Christian.

I feel honored to be an American

I feel honored to be in AFJROTC .

Honor is also something, I think, you need to learn to gain. If you truly feel deeply about something, and are willing to do everything it takes to be the best in its cause, or fight for it, that is honor, in my opinion. You hold to its truth's and do not let anything change that.

I think that faithfulness is the largest source of honour. That covers quite a lot, but for me it means avoiding causing offence or hurt to anyone or anything else.

Though much harder to enforce than just say, I see it just like the golden rule. Having honor means to treat others as you would want them to treat you. There is an extremely fine line dividing honor and pride, staying on top of it is the safest bet IMO.

What about in the context of "defending one's honor," in which case it refers to something like a reputation.

makes good sence.

This reminds me of the Shorin Ryu Karate pledge...

I Pledge to Honor those who are Honorable.
Respect those who are Respectable.
Tolerate those I can neither Honor or Respect.
And Conduct myself in such a Way,
That I ask no others to Tolerate me.

"...what do you believe is your honor?"

For me it has become being a good father. There's no way to define that in a post, and sometimes I know what it is by what it isn't more than anything else. But it's a sense that you've done what's best for you kid and his mother, and changing things that might have seemed normal before. It's doing and being for someone else. It's selflessness. And he'll never even know about the decisions and the effort, until he does it himself. I guess that's the beauty of it. I think it is very honorable to be a good parent... appropriate with mother's day coming up.

That generally covers my bases.

I'm not one to get all ruffled; I'm not longer as quick to wrath about anyone making fun of me; I shrug off a good bit of what dishes out at me. When you're on the clock, you have to maintain dignity and respect; if you deal with customers, for example, you have to be their target for hostility a god bit of the time. With the expection of law-breaking matters, you have to be able to deflect what is thrown at you.

If you're a mod, or a long-standing member of a forum, you have to maintain the rights and respect of others. It's not always easy, but it's never impossible. There's always a ferw people that are difficlut to deal with; sometimes I want fire a flame at them, but I restrain myself to the topic and leave that which I have no care for or attach any meaning to, respectfully alone.

I think honor equates to responsibility; and with any rank that one assumes, you have a responsibility to be fair with others at all times, so as not to shame yourself in any way.

"Sticks and stones may break my bones but workd will never hurt me".

This is not true. Words are very powerful; more powerful than guns, bombs, or terorrists. They have the power to start wars, make peace, to teach, and to entertain...

I am honoured to be an Filipino-American, a human, a child of loving parents, and of life...
