Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright, who brought us Shaun of the Dead have given the same treatment to he British Cop show.

Scheduled for a Feb 2007 release in the UK the official site is now up with a couple of trailers (which are well worth a look) and a load of video blogs.

A a big fan myself of SOTD and Spaced I have to say I am looking forward to this one.

...Any word on if it will come to America?

It's in the mail as I type this and should be here tomorrow, any word on how it compares to SOTD as I couldn't stop laughing through most of that movie...

Surprisingly similar. You'll like it if you like SOTD.

When I saw the first trailer in theaters a while back I remember the scene when he takes the "shortcut" and I laughed so hard because I had seen SOTD (similar scene for those who haven't seen it). everyone else in the theater just looked at me kinda funny (cep for the three others who had also apparently seen the movie and were laughing with me) since SOTD wasn't a huge hit over here.

I've watched it three times so far and it still retains many of the laughs.

Near tops on the DA movie scale.

Amazing movie. They were able to get away with so many things they really couldn't in Shaun of the Dead.

I can't wait for Simon's new movie, "Fatboy" or whatever it's called.

I didn't rate this, some of the lines we're brilliant, but plot was complete crap, even for a deliberatly crap plot, it was just the crap kind of crap, not the good kind of crap. It started out well, but as it went on it all went downhill and it sped up as it dropped, about 3/4 of the way through it was just totally crap imo barring a few good lines.

I guess it's just not my cup of tea.

I thought it was very good... until I thought about it and watched it again. You have to be a SotD fan to love it (which I am.)

I think while SotD is a great movie, this is the best extended TV pilot episode I've ever seen. (Do you see what I did there?)

I'm with Dave on this. I loved SotD, but this was just disappointing. The trailer gives you the impression that it's going to be an awesome, over-the-top action flick, and then you actually watch it and find out that most of the movie is filler, building up to the stuff you wanted to see...at the very end.

The "filler" you're talking about is funny stuff. Yes, the end is better than the beginning, but it builds nicely.

Edit: An example: "Hag. 3 Across"

saw it, loved it, even my girlfriend who normally hates this type of movie loved it... Favorite scene would have the chase scene with the shoplifting chav

I think it sucked. They mixed comedy with people getting their heads smashed in, and it just doesn't work IMO.

The actors were good, and there were many good parts, but overall it just didn't work.

I don't know if I ever mentioned it (probably did in the What did you see? thread...), but this is one of my favorite movies of the year. Some of my friends "just didn't get it," and others just outright hated it. Me? I LOVED IT. Its perfect, witty humor where you actually have to pay attention, not to mention the sheer outrageousness of it all. The car chase alone had me cracking up, just the thought of two diesel Astras going at it...

There were the occasional moments that warranted a smile or even a laugh, but too many jokes were soft-hitting.

Maybe I would have been more satisfied with the movie if I was expecting a clever, low-key film that happened to have a little bit of silly action at the end. Unfortunately, we intended to rent a silly action movie.

I thought it was hilarious.

Not the funniest film I've seen, but funny all the way through.
I definitely rate it as one of the best this year.

Very cool & funny film, but I also didn't think it was half the film Shaun of the Dead was. "Shaun" was damn near perfect, flawless. Hot Fuzz, while it was so good, I will definitely buy it on DVD, it is nowhere perfection. Lot's of ups & downs.

I can't wait for Pegg's next film though. 👍

I completely agree...

and I loved SOTD...

It's hard to follow up an absolutely brilliant film like Shaun of the Dead with something else.

Hot Fuzz had tons of problems. Somehow, offbeat humor, sly jokes, slapstick and gory, extremely realistic... errh... gore, don't seem to mix well.

At least not outside a horror spoof.

Liked it anyway.

"I left him in the deep freeze...."
"so did you say anything good like: Cool off in there?"
"nah"
"ahhhh"
"but there was a bit earlier when i distracted him with a cuddly monkey, and said: Playtime's over"
"you're off the ******* chain!"

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

I liked hot fuzz.
:irked:👍
