Hi, I didn't find anything for this so here goes.

What are the requirements for a thread to be a "hot" thread? Originally I assumed that it needed 50 posts, which I thought because one thread had 52 and it was a "hot" thread. But then I looked elsewhere and there were some threads in the 60s and 70s post range that weren't "hot" threads. Does it have to do with the number of views too?

:-)

No really it's all about views. Some places you need 900 views for a hot thread and other places you need 1000 views for a hot thread. Personally I don't know which is which. :indiff:

I'm pretty sure it's the same across the board.

Well in Digital Art Help it was 900 views, and some other place 800 views, and the threads only had around 50 replies or so. In Gran Turismo and others it's mostly 1000 views. :)

I don't want to be a complete ass and not help... but what's the point of a "hot thread" in the first place?

No, you're just fine. But, I don't know the answer to that... ask Jordan.

:-)

Ozzy is correct - it's 100 replies or 1000 views, whichever comes first.

My guess is that it's just there to tell you that's where all the cool kids are talking and that the thread is probably too far along to jump into the discussion/read all the way through.
