So far my PB @ Imola on the GT-E BMW PRO Model, default setup:
1:45.924, there's still a good .5 or more to be extracted but I'm too tired to keep lapping and pushing... Replays coming soon.

Jav - BMW M3 GTE - Imola - 1:45.924 [Pro]Super Soft Tires

On Board replay:

Camera man needs to be fired!! Lol:

Not played it enough to really go for some hotlaps but I did a couple laps around Magione in the Formula Abarth tho other night. G27 on pro settings, default setup.

I couldn't even complete a lap till I turned all the silly head motion off(most of it, still trying to figure out how to keep it looking at the horizon). After I got the camera fixed it became pretty easy to string fast laps together

Under Options>Video>View there's a checkbox for Lock to Horizon, is that what you're looking for?

How did you turn off the silly head motion stuff? Edit camera_onboard.ini?

Done some initial testing at Imola in the M3 GT2 car, super softs and default setup. 1:45.1 is my fastest but I just crashed a lap where I was 1.1seconds up. Momentum in this car adds massive time, it doesn't pay to be aggressive as much as it pays to be smooth, but that is hard to achieve with the car setup default. At the hairpin I'm actually gaining more time by having a fast entry and taking a wide line (throw it in and sort it out when you get there) though due to the extra speed you can take and the better speed down the straight as a result.

Not really sure how but that hairpin always seems to be slower for me when I take it tight. Anyway, a predicted low 1:44 or high 1:43 for that, probably faster if some alien comes along.

Edit : As I thought.

The lap was aggressive but very rough around the edges, If I could keep the car tidy I think there is still another second or more in it. That is the hard part, I think people will find a setup that will keep the car more stable and shave off a lot of time.

I changed the OP with some inspiration from the NeoGAF thread guys, changed submission format.

I managed to better my time and got 2.16.580 semi slicks and 2.21.568 with street 90's

I'm gonna try some laps with the E92. I want to try that KTM X-Bow challenge also but havent tried that car or track yet. Hopefully i'll get some laps in tonight :)

Is it possible to turn off the Ghost Car? I tried to do it in config but it does nothing, as soon as you log into the game it rewrites the config and turns it back on. Bah, extremely frustrating to try to drive a hotlap when I'm driving in and out of my ghost all the time.

I never get a ghost car. But then again I drive in practice mode so maybe it's not enabled there.

Apparently there was some strange bug, the devs confirmed they had fixed it about 5mins after I made this post.

I got ghost to turn off anyway, and so was able to make a slightly better lap! Changed 2 settings on the setup from default. Diff power down to 40% and diff coast up to 65% to help with the stability of the car under deceleration/acceleration. Still a little greedy at times but I lost time more than gaining it (especially in 2nd chicane/corner section), Though I like going wide on the hairpin I messed it up and went too wide and lost time. lap was pushed hard but I still think 1 second faster is possible even on this setup.

I also made a quick video, uploading it at the moment. Thats it for me for a while though, spamming the thread at this rate.

Onboard starts at around 1:54

Yeah I think the ghost does reset when you come off the game. I've been trying that combo, then switched to hard slicks and it's imo much more enjoyable to drive. :)

Yes, the camera_onboard.ini change everything to 0 except for the rotation which I left to 60 degs.
Thank you! That's exactly ehat I was looking for, will definitely try that later on today!
Those are some fast laps Bigbazz! I can see from your vid a couple of spots where I'm loosing time.

1:42.800 - Aderrrm - BMW M3 GT2 - Super softs

Sorry for the bad quality. Have gone faster since, quite a few areas you can gain a lot time. Using the stock setup, but the brakes are too rear biased for my liking.

I knew the 1:42's were well doable, on my lap I lose nearly half a second in the 2nd chicane alone. I'm obviously going to have to put my money where my mouth is now tho after aderrrm beat my time! Maybe tomorrow night. I need to stop manhandling the car and treat it with some respect, being smooth and maintaining momentum is the key, the problem is keeping that fine balance has the car on a knife edge of where its painfully close to bitting your face off and ending up in a wall.

Will be an interesting battle to see how fast you guys can go on that combo. I might try and join and see if I can keep up although struggling to string a lap together on a shorter track so probably unlikely. I wonder what you guys can do with the KTM X-Bow around Magione so I can have an alien benchmark to aim for. I am finding it quite frustrating as I can't get confidence in what the car is going to do so feel I'm driving quite a bit off the limit.

Oh crap!! Now I have a lot of work to do!! Damn that's 3 seconds I'll need to find... Hmmm if I can get within 1.5 of Aderrrm I'll be happy as that would be my usual gap to the world records on iRacing...

You can find the time, one lap you're going to magically find yourself 1 second ahead and wonder how you did it, then you're gonna figure out how the car works and unlock more time, the car is strange like that. If you can do a 1:45 lap you can definitely make the 1:43's, I think the 1:42's and faster is where the real headaches will start to come. The car is so ready to throw you at a wall at any moment, if you're having stability issues try the drivetrain changes I made, It could help you be more consistant in the braking phase. Worked for me atleast.

I'm no setup guru and it's probably where I suck most (also why I always do best where there are fixed setups) but small changes I can do. Maybe brake bias moved forward could help but I enjoy the turnin that the current braking gives, no understeer.

I definitely wouldn't call myself an Alien, didn't you reach GT Academy finals Saidur? I'm fairly certain you can work it out, even though you also had issues on Ferrari Virtual Academy you were right up there on the leaderboards. I haven't tried the X-Bow at Magione yet, I gave it a few laps at Imola and I found the brakes were super sensitive and I had a lot of lockup issues, still a lot of fun though.

I'l give it a try for a few laps. You should give the BMW M3 GT2 a try, it's a lot more of a pick up and play car than the X-bow due to the sheer ammount of performance it has. I personally have issues driving the Ferrari 458 Italia, I can barely keep the thing on the road and spend too much time sideways or locking up brakes to be anything near fast.

On a 360 pad (added a slight touch (5%) of stability control):

1:47:844 - F1GTR - BMW M3 GT2 - Imola - Super Softs

I keep cocking up the chicanes and the first hairpin, I'm losing a lot of time and speed through them, perhaps a second or more.

Hard to help without a video. Try to take a late turn in on the chicanes, avoid attacking the curbs as it will unsettle the car too much. Same goes for the hairpin, because the car gets unstable under heavy deceleration if you take the tight line you're asking more of yourself and the car, if you go in straighter with a wider approach you can smooth the braking/entry phase while not having to slow down as hard, generally you can then make a smoother exit.

I don't know why but I'm convinced that taking the hairpin on a slightly wider line (as apposed to a traditional approach) is not only a lot easier but also slightly faster. If it is still an issue (can't be easy with a pad) I'd bump the stability control up a little, it definitely smooths out some of the cars weight transfer and helps with the curbs unsettling the car, the stability allows you to attack harder but it can also add a decent bit of understeer on entry, the understeer likely won't cause you any issue until you're pushing quite a bit faster tho, so I'd go for it.
